We rode ROTR Monday for the first time. I purposefully had not read about it ahead of time. We knew when we went through that we skipped part of it because the people ahead of us told us. This morning I’m reading more about the ride and it seems like we skipped a lot more than I thought. Like the entire pre-show.

We just walked in a line that snaked forever, including through a backstage area, until we were loaded on ride vehicles to escape. The cast members there called us prisoners which was the first hint to us that that was what we were supposed to be. The line did snake at one point through a very large room with stormtroopers which was amazing to look at but we had no context. I’m kind of bummed that we worked so hard to ride this and only got part of the experience. We are going to try again Friday but right now, I’m disappointed.

That is frustrating. I was in Disneyland last week and we went through all the preshow scenes. There's definitely a lot of info between the queue and getting to the storm trooper room.

Yeah, without giving spoilers, you skipped what I'd consider two segments (pre-show and the first 'ride' portion). That's really frustrating, and I hope you get to experience the whole thing on your next try. If their solution to technical issues with a segment is to have guests skip it, they really need to have a B-mode that catches you up on the part of the story you've missed. Honestly I'm surprised they'd even operate the attraction under those conditions, though.

That's what happened to us too, the first time we rode it. Skipped the entire transport part, and went right into the stormtrooper room. We hadn't watched any spoilers/ride throughs, so we didn't know what we'd missed until later. We did know that there was supposed to be a hologram of Rey, and Poe talking, and we hadn't seen any of that. We also felt like we didn't know what was going on with the story and ride. I hope y'all got another chance to ride it, and get the whole experience. We did on subsequent rides, and it was a much more fun time!!

Yes we were able to ride on Friday and got the entire show. Definitely worth it.

We had that happen in WDW. Got up to riding the transport and the ride crashed.
We were taken through some back caves and then suddenly ended up in the stormtrooper room. No explanation of what happened. Having ridden it before, the ride seemed very disjointed because of it. Still amazing, but not as good as doing all of it.
