RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

My concern isn't so much the average morning person. Its the people who can't get in the crowds that we're seeing without having problems. Great if you can rope drop. Reality is not everyone can or should be in those crowds. I'm not even autistic but still have to deal with sensory overload from my migraines. Its a word. that I would probably get censored on here, to deal with. And early mornings with lack of sleep are more likely to cause sensory overload from my experience then not.

I know I sound like a broken record but I just wish there was someway to at least make it viable for DAS holders who can't get in those crowds. Since right now the only way for us to even ride without the boarding pass. Which again causes problems if you can't get in those crowds.

And before I get a bunch of 'Well have someone hold your spot and then join them in the line'. 1) Try that with a mobility device, even the rollator and see how well that works in practice, 2) 99 percent of my park trips are by myself. I've got no one to do so.

Its just frustrating because I really want to ride this more then once but right now for me? I am probably going to have one shot at riding this for however long (which with this going out into February now looks like we will be stuck with it for several months at least) this systems around if DL operates anywhere near this madness.

I can completely appreciate that and understand it’s much more difficult. Should have noted that in my original post.

I understand the frustration, but at the same time I think they have to handle it this way. It seems they really need the control the BG give them, which is possibly why DAS still requires a BG and VIP tours are not given an advantage at all.

The reality is these early mornings are a giant pain at best for a whole lot of people, impossible at worst. But the alternative is what? Rationing the attraction for random release throughout the day? That hardly seems fair and would be a customer service mess IMO.

Do we have any idea if its even running at full capacity yet, when it's not down of course?

There's no need to join the crowd before the park opens to get into a bg, as you might have seen from the other thread following times, bg fill up in the first hour or two, so you could get to dhs and wait before bag check where there's no crowds and sit on a bench, once the tapstiles open wait like 10 or 20 minutes and you'll encounter a regular park entrance with no huge crowds and still get the bg

It's not running at full capacity

This is excellent to point out. It seems like 6:45-7:00 is that sweet spot. (disclaimer: That could change with holiday crowds on the horizon and with the upcoming 7am opens). Hopefully additional capacity and increased reliability help that arrival time work for people who can’t make the rope drop chaos work for them.

I know there really isn't a perfect solution. Its just frustrating for me and I guess I needed to vent for a moment. Since trying to get on ROTR maybe essentially playing roulette. Cauuuse guess what can (but not always) triggers my migraines? Lack of sleep. Oh and sometimes certain light frequencies you see in the morning. And I've had some on levels bad enough that when it hits there goes my entire day or next few days if the migraine's really bad.

I know there's no real perfect solution to this. But I've always viewed accesibility as a way of evening the playing field. And right now it feels we're at a distinctly large disadvantage compared to the average park goer (again the gamble of having a migraine triggered). Sure VIP are blocked out and I get the frustration there but at least they have a chance if they don't mind without maybe or maybe not triggering a problem (I'm not going to go there and assume someone whose VIP doesn't have a disability).

I know its a singular ride in the overall scheme of things. But the way everyone is talking it up all over the place makes me want to ride it more. And I think that just makes me frustrated with the situation even more.

Okay at this point I'm probably going to sound like I'm complaining to complain at this point. But my issue isn't entirely just crowds either (see above). But arrival time for a couple of different reasons. And my migraines are about as predictable as this rides downtime right now (not bad but still an issue). In other words most of the time I'm good but when I'm bad it can get really bad.

Ummmm this article sounds like one giant lie...or did I miss something?

EDIT: Yes this is untrue...leaving the article just so peeps can see it!!https://**************.net/2019/12/star-wars-rise-of-the-resistance-extra-magic-hours-tm1/

Have you researched the actual ride? There are some portions with bright lights and flickering in screens, plus the close sim portion. If you get migraines triggered by any of these you might need to reconsider.
I have been suffering from migraines since I was 6, so I know the pain. The sleep issue is a bit easier to control by going to sleep earlier, but nake sure to know what your getting into with the ride itself

I haven’t honestly like I should have now that you point it out. -winces- I have some specially tinted linses that I normally wear to deal with the bright lights so I think as long as I secure them and wear them I should be okay. I was going to say I haven’t had issues with Star Tours in the past but then I realized it’s been a while since I rode it. Looks like I need to investigate getting a good sunglasses (not sunglasses for the record just uses the frame) lens strap before we arrive to wear on the ride. Hopefully Amazon has something I can get quickly. Thanks for the heads up.

it ticks me off when false information is out there. Novices see this and thinks it's accurate and go and get disappointed.

My son has an intellectual disability (among other things) and uses a DAS. Early morning and crowds are not ideal for him but we will make do. My suggestion would be to send the rest of your party early to get a boarding group and then talk to Guest Relations. Maybe they will add you. You could also talk to them ahead of time and see if this is a solution.

This would be awesome but I just don’t think the ride is reliable enough for this yet. At least for it to be officially running. This would be the best way for them to start getting off the virtual queue system though.
