RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

We also need to remember that this is the first EMH day with ROTR open. It’s entirely possible that Disney could change how things are done for the next EMH. Pack your patience and be prepared to be flexible. We’ve already seen (I think?) them close the loophole of getting multiple boarding groups in a day. Hopefully they’ll slowly get this process to be more consistent with time and get the attraction to be more reliable.

I get what you’re saying and I agree with the advice to always arrive early, especially for new things like this. I think the people who thought they could arrive at any time during the day and just deal with a line and became upset that the VQ was there and filled were crazy given the issues surrounding this attraction.

Some of it just feels like flat out lies on Disney’s part though. For example I think it’s terrible they flat out said the time they were going to open BG multiple times this morning and did it significantly earlier.

Those in the know know not to trust them, but at the same time I think it’s pretty bad that’s become accepted, you know?
I agree. Disney purposely said the VQ would open at 8 AM. Just yesterday. By tweet, and by sign board at the resorts. It seems like a purposeful lie at this point.

I know I am probably in the minority, but I was very unhappy with how Disney handled things today.

When they announced that the Virtual Queue would not open till 8am since EMH run from 6-8 am then opening the park to outside at 8. So, for all of us that are staying here at the parks and headed over at 7:30 were shut out of getting a BP by 7:45.

We got on the boat at BC at 7:30 and before we hit the turnstiles the Queue was full.

Sorry, but Disney is causing there own complaints by not keeping one announcement correct. They seem to be without any type of plan or organization. Like they are winging it each day.

The 'worst' part about this whole setup is going to be explaining it to DW / the fam and getting their buy in. I've drug them to plenty of rope drops, EMMs, etc... but so far this is a whole different level.

Coming up with my 'pitch' for this is going to be a struggle.
I was being nice and wasn’t correcting to ‘dragged’ but see all the posters who are helping you?? 😂

So we didn’t have the best luck this morning. None of my family was expecting (or dying to) ride ROTR while we were here this week, but I’ve been watching this thread which has been super helpful. Based on Disney communications (LOL) and what we read here we were up at 6 and left BWV to walk at 7. . Was hoping to try for boarding group at 7:45. We were through the turnstiles at 7:30.

Was walking towards MFSR & heard someone say something about boarding groups. So jumped on and sure enough at about 7:32 we got BG 88 I believe. Frustrated they didn’t wait until the 745 which was the official communication I’ve seen from Twitter etc. But even more frustrated that they let all the non-EMH guests in before 730.

We have dinner plans at Disney Springs so doubt we will give those up to come back for this. Anyone have an idea whether BG 88 will go today? We head home tomorrow unfortunately. 🤷🏻‍♀️

100%. Disney has a problem with communications for sure. They should've said nothing or they could have said, VQ can open at anytime during EMH . And this issue not only is for guests but also for fellow CM, they don't inform their front of the line CM and usually we have more info than they do.
But, we know this and yes we can use it to our advantage at the time of planning

If you decide to ditch dinner, ask in Guest Services if they can help get the fee waived. You know, if the GS line isn't too long. Ugh.

5:56am EMH :rotfl:

In all seriousness, I told my family I wanted to go really early and was willing to do it by myself if they wanted to sleep. They were like isn’t that the really cool new ride, we want to get on too! It sold itself 👍🏻 Just don’t pick a Sunday
This! I'm arriving on Dec 22nd for 10 days, and staying at BW. I've already told the DW and DD I'll be getting up at 4:30am on multiple days to head over to DHS and get a bg. Whoever wants to come can come. My DD has told me she will join me, and I'm sure at least once or twice she will. My DW may come once, but I've learned not to push.

here's how I would say it:
RotR has a VQ and you must join a BG to do the attraction
It's either way up very early to be able to experience it or be left out.
If RotR didn't have a VQ we would have to queue up, physically, for hours at a time, not being able to do anything else in the park. At least this way we can go do other attractions with little to no wait while we wait for our group to be called.

Yeah it’s not rocket science lol. People are losing their minds. Wake up Really early and you’ll get to ride. Wake up somewhat early and you’ll have to take your chance. Be oblivious to things or don’t want to ride, sleep in. You tell your group, if you want to go on RotR, then you’ll wake up at XX and come with me to the park lol

Yet again, boarding groups fill up before Disney says they will even be available, and before their posted park opening time. This is such a guest relations fail. They need to be honest.

Yes it’s the dishonesty that is bothering me the most. Been a DVC member for 20 years & just don’t think this should be part of Disney’s M.O.

I have a question I haven't seen answered yet (it may have been and i just haven't read all 12 million posts about ROTR, in which case, I apologize for asking again): Can you get a Boarding Group for ROTR if you already have 3 FPs scheduled that day? Or do you need to give up one of those FPs in order to get the BG? I'm perfectly happy giving up any of my FPs in order to score a chance at ROTR, but just wondering if it's necessary. Thanks in advance.

Its too bad we don’t know what EMH will consistently be like, because despite the communication mess it looks like if nothing else an opportunity to ride ROTR by sleeping in a little later and not needing to be at the turnstiles by the like 5.

Provided you don’t actually do much else during EMH I guess lol.

I totally understand where you're coming from and gave it some thought myself. But I think Disney is stuck between a rock and a hard place here. They need somehow to stagger the hoards. Posting a time and then starting a bit sooner helps with that.

Your FP don’t have anything to do with the BG, keep em :)

Yes. You can get in a BG in addition to your FP.
