Our son is going to be our "flower boy" for our vow renewal. My plan is to take one of the Mickey "groom" top hats, turn it upside down and put a thin ivory ribbon through each side for the handle, and then have him drop (or dump, knowing him!) the rose petals down the aisle.

I didn't price the rose petals from Disney, but I am sure they are expensive. For those of you who ordered/purchased your rose petals from an outside source, where did you get them? How far in advance did you get them? Also, how long will they "keep"? We are leaving on April 20 to go to Florida, but our vow renewal is not actually until May 1.

I was planning on using freeze dried rose petals at one point.

A bride on the boards reffered me to www.flyboynaturals.com

I hope that helps!

I think I might have been the one who referred you... but I'm not sure. FlyBoyNaturals was the vendor for the freeze dried petals for Kate's wedding, and they worked beautifully. FlyBoy has a huge variety of colors, and the petals stay fragrant and fresh looking for a very long time. The petals arrived about a month before Kate's wedding, held January 6, and they are STILL fragrant and fresh. We had a lot of leftovers because we overestimated how many people would still be at the reception at the end. We hadn't anticipated older people getting tired and leaving before 11 p.m. (silly us!), so we kept the extras to use for other holidays, anniversaries, etc. They smell and look just like they did the first day they arrived, four months ago. Good luck! ~Ev :)

I had the rose petals from Disney. They charged me $10 for each of our baskets.
There was a lot in them too.

If you can get this price, you would be much better off! The shipping would cost you $10 alone for the freeze-dried ones, and then you'd have to worry about packing them. ~Ev

Ebay has really great deals on rose petals. I too might have to go with a "Flower boy" since my DF has 3 nephews and no neices. :)

we bought ours from flyboynatural too. they're not that cheap but it's nice if you can get a deal on specials or request their catalogue ( I got a coupon from them saying it's for wedding)
we took them the way it was packaged and it smells really nice :)
I ordered it like a month before and kept it in the closet for that long. leave them the way it was packaged and it'll last a long while in a cool, dark place.

REMINDER FOR OUTDOOR USE: SCATTER THEM THE MINUTE YOU'RE GOING TO USE THEM. never know when that unwanted wind comes by.....

Yes I think I have, I shall sort some out and upload them later.

Hi, do you definitely want to use real rose petals? Craft stores like A.C. Moore, Michaels (etc etc) have boxes of silk rose petals that are pretty cheap, and you can get all kinds of crazy (and normal) colors.

Adorable idea on the mickey hat basket!!

Well, I contacted Rosie at Disney Floral and she confirmed the $10 price for rose petals. We agreed on $20 worth of petals and she is going to go ahead and get me the hat as well so I don't have to worry about it. I just need to confirm with her if she is taking care of putting on the "handle" or if I need to make sure I have the ribbon and pocket knife to do that.

Adorable idea on the mickey hat basket!!

Thanks! I'm usually not very creative, but knew my son (not to mention DH) would think it was girly to carry a flower basket. I was trying to decide what he could use and could only come up with a top hat--so, just figured I would use the Mickey Ears one!

Love the Mickey top hat idea!

When we get married on Castaway Cay, I'm going to have my nephew carry a pirate treasure chest for the ring pillow. I bought the clear plastic treasure chest with chocolate money at the Yacht Club store. I'm going to remove the candy, make a little pillow to go in the bottom, then sew fake rings to the pillow. I'm debating having him wear the Cpt. Hook pirate outfit. He's 2, so would be super cute!

But I love the Mickey top hat idea, too!!

Jennifer

Both the Mickey Hat idea and the treasure chest idea are lovely! Tahts why i love this board so much, there are so many brilliant ideas that i dont have to worry about not being that creative!
