Doesn't surprise me, especially with so many shirts being tissue thin these days. I was thinking when looking at it that it would not be comfortable if your arms touched it in any way. I've had the misfortune of buying a sequin shirt and was miserable. Wore it 1 time and threw it away. They have to be more uncomfortable than a hair shirt from medieval days.
My personal experience - I've been wearing it constantly everywhere I go since I got it the weekend it was released (was able to get it that Saturday morning after a restock and wore it from the moment I paid for it), and have had no holes rubbed in any of my shirts. Its done three 10+ hour Disneyland days, two all day Universal, and several other long walking days at zoos and museums. And I've usually worn it with cheap camis I get from Kohls. It does not touch my skin either, and I wear it cinched pretty tight.
These backpacks were in nearly every store when I was in DLR in early June. I looked at it several times but it just looked cheap to me. It looks nice from a distance but not so much close up. I think it would have been better if the sequins were more of an accent than the whole backpack. I did buy the Dooney Lady and the Tramp tote. Could not resist.
