Hi All,
we will be in WDW dec 12-16th 2007 and were able to reserve a table for the rose and crown pub in epcot at 8:40pm, just 20 minutes before illuminations. We have the dining plan however with such a picky eater my 12 year old is, will it be worth it? Also how well can you see illuminations from the pub? Thanks for all your help

We did this in June and were very disappointed. The food was so-so, the service almost non-existent, and I've had much better views of Illuminations just about anywhere else around the lagoon!

We certainly won't be going back to Rose & Crown anytime soon.

Hi
We went to the Rose and the Crown a couple of weeks ago. They do not guarantee a seat outside or anywhere where you can see the Illuminations. But if you are there during it you certainly get up and move outside to watch and then return to your table. I think the show was 10-15 minutes the night we were there. As for the food, we were mixed. Wasn't bad just did not impress us. MIL and DS had the steak; DH and I had the lamb. Lamb was huge but good. Who can go wrong with a steak? We had just eaten at LeCellier and so maybe that is why we were not that impressed with the food.

BTW we were soooo close to the fireworks, we could feel the heat. That alone made it worth it. Well, if it had not freaked DD out and we had to leave!!! OH well.....

My family had a great experience at Rose & Crown. Yes, the food is English and not exactly the most scrumptious food we've ever had but we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the Fish & Chips were quite good. We sat, had a few beers, ate a pleasant meal and watched Illuminations.

Not a bad night in my book.

We really enjoyed our experience at Rose & Crown last December .. the meal was good, the service was good and watching Illuminations from our outdoor patio table was great! ... it was definitely worth it to us ... and I believe that Illuminations is scheduled for 9:30PM in December so that should work out nicely with your 8:40PM ADR ... :)

We ate there in May and were quite pleased. My wife had the hunk of lamb (bigger than her head!) and I had the steak and fish. We were quite pleased with both the meal and the illuminations view. We too had to go outside and stand with the crowd. My wife is small and got to stand next to the rail for illuminations so she got to see the whole show and was thrilled. I looked over her head and was also happy.

I was very hesitant about eating there as I wasn't sure about the menu (I am kinda picky), but, my fears were groundless. It was all good.

The cheese platter was very nice indeed!

Not Le Cellier, but, not bad at all.

The food is losing it's British-ness. From the most recent menus it seems more American to me than British (I'm a Brit, living in US) Some of the combinations make me go huh? It doesn't really help the bad reputation that Britain has for food!! Though I will say the fish and chips are usually pretty good. The appetizers and desserts are great, the entrees are so-so. The atmosphere and the outside terrace are really nice. It's worth a look, but I'm happy to get my fish & chips from the CS. The view for Illuminations is excellent by the way.

DH and I really enjoy the Rose and Crown, and have dinner there on most trips, BUT....I don't think you can always choose to sit outside; you might end up getting an indoor seat. Depending on how busy they were, we have been told at times that we could not sit outdoors. So I would not count on being able to see Illuminations.

Maybe there's a way to reserve an outdoor seat that I don't know about??
