Stupid question but does anyone know if you can watch football at the Rose & Crown Pub? Will be going to Epcot on Halloween and want to stop in there for a beer any maybe catch part of the 1:00 game and take a little break and then head back out to Food and Wine. Just a thought. Was also thinking of going over to ESPN Club but really did not want to leave food and wine so DH could watch football.

Only real football...

;)

All kidding aside, I'm not sure.

Yea, I doubt you'll get them to turn on American football in an English pub. (It is English right? or is it Irish?)

unless they've changed it in the last couple of years, no.

A few years ago there was a HUGE mets game on that my dad couldn't bear to miss. we wandered all over looking for a tv with the game, the only place we could find it was at the espn zone. but don't count on easily walking in there during game time, the line is usually out the door and if you are lucky enough to get in, it will be far away from the bar.

(we went in the end of september, to give you an idea of time)

Oh, there were also 2 TVs in the brewery at the boardwalk, but they were only playing local stuff. so might be out of luck with your team.

The bar may have a TV, but I don't recall seeing one anywhere when we've eaten there.

And as PP's said, it would likely be Futbol, not Football.

If you're at EPCOT and you want to catch a game, walk to BW from there (you're actually very close to the exit, then just a short walk). ESPN zone.

That is what I figured but I really did not want to leave the park. But oh well what we do for our sporting teams. Guess we can take an early afternoon break for some football. As long as I don't have to leave there for the world series also I will be happy. :goodvibes

There are no Televisions in any of the 4 Parks.:)

The only exception I have ever heard of was during this year's World Cup soccer matches, when a TV was set up in Guest Relations at Epcot.

I think this exception to the "no TV rule" was only made because of the several Countries in World Showcase participating in the World Cup.:)

Are we talking real football here or that garbage that you Americans call football.

In real football the World Cup is played for by almost every nation on the planet. In most popular US sports (American Football, Basball, Basketball) the majority of countries in the world don't even have professional leagues. By the way how can the World Series be played by teams from just one country?

Stirs nicely and steps away:rolleyes1

Tell, DH to go see the game at ESPN while you enjoy F&W. Sounds like a win-win to me.

Hey now, Canada is not in the States, so there are 2 countries with teams in MLB.

:rotfl2:

Not quite. The globe used in Illuminations is considered the largest tv set in the world. ok, picky picky. but it is television technology with a closed circuit system.

Yes,there are also "video monitors" at Tune In Lounge playing a "video loop",etc.:)

I "think" the OP was asking about "commercial TVs" where sporting events could be watched.None of those are available in any of the 4 Parks.:)

Ha! There hasn't been a "HUGE mets game" in many years!

Also, soccer is not a sport. I don't care how many people watch it. It just isn't. Anything that can go on for three or four hours and end in a 0-0 tie is not a sport.

Eh... I hear that a lot of people that just simply don't understand the game. Football is a complex, intense, and athletic competition. Personally, I find it far more interesting then American football or baseball since those sports are so stop and go, stop and go.

Considering we are one of only a small handful of countries that doesn't have a ton of support for football, I would think the mindset of "it's not a sport" would not be a popular one.

OK, but since soccer/football NEVER lasts "three or four hours", I guess it is still a sport...

I am born and raised and living in the U.S., sitting here wearing my Liverpool jersey, being a licensed coach, having got back not long ago from my kid playing this "non sport"...

Now, American football typically takes 3 hours but the players actively move for a very small fraction of that, can last longer than that and still end in a 0-0 tie...

The time was just an estimate. I was being polite -- they feel like they last all week, but I know that it can't possibly be that long.

So, sorry, still not a sport.

I can understand where the hooliganism comes from, though. I'd go nuts too if I had to sit through all that! ;)

A bit OT... but do you know a good company to purchase jerseys from? I searched online, but don't recognize any of the company names (and when it comes to handing over CC info, I like to have SOME idea). I am in particular looking for an Atletico Madrid jersey or other items. I would prefer a Forlan jersey but am not picky.

Personally, I can't sit through a baseball or american football game because they are SO slow and boring. You have 3 seconds of action and then countless minutes of nothing. It's all stop and go.

However, I would never say that it isn't a sport and that the players are not athletes. I just simply don't enjoy it, but to each their own.

Though I have to admit, if your only experience with football was this last World Cup, there were multiple matches that just didn't live up to what they could have been. Even I was pulling my hair out at all the diving and attempts to slow the game down.

Actually, I got my jersey at Epcot. It was cheaper than ordering from the UK :)
