I made a 6:45PM ADR at Rose & Crown hoping that we could still be there for Illuminations. Is that too early?

It depends on when you're going and what time the show starts. When we go during the summer months the show starts around 9:00 pm. Assuming the start time will be the same for you on your trip, and assuming about 90 minutes of time in the restaurant, you'll be done well before the show's start time.

The show always starts around 9:00 pm, so unless you really linger over dinner, you will be done well before then. But, don't sweat it - the view of Illuminations from R&C is not significantly better than the view from many, many other great places around the lagoon (basically any place where your view is not blocked by a tree or a structure is as good as any other place). So, enjoy your dinner and then head out to enjoy WS. About 15 - 30 minutes before the show, start looking for a place to watch from; you will find plenty of good spots available then (some people start staking out spots an hour or more before Illuminations, but that really isn't necessary). Then, enjoy Illuminations - it is wonderful.

Rose and Crown is generally a faster paced Table Service location. 2.25 hours is more the pace of dinner that you would experience at a Signature dining location, so I think you might want to try for something a little bit later on in the evening.

I think so, we're in the same boat as you, have a 6:50 time. Keep checking on line, maybe something later will show up. So far not for us but I'm not giving up!

The best time IMO to have a table at R&C for Illuminations is to have an 8-8:15 ADR. That allows 45 minutes for dinner before the show. In our case, at the 45 minute mark, that's when the other diners will be showing up expecting our table

We're toying with the idea of not having TS & opting to get a CS meal from the Yorkshire fish next door. ALthough a CS table is first come first served, I hear their tables are also on a patio overlooking the lagoon.

Can anybody confirm whether or not you could view Illuminations from one of the tables at the Yorkshire CS next door to R&C?

The latest ADR I could get in late Sept is 7:15. We plan to show up at exactly 7:15 and hope to have to wait a small bit for a table. I've seen Illuminations from nearly every angle except for R&C. Think I'll go check...

I think it sounds like a great time. You will be finished with dinner with plenty of time to scope out a good spot. I'd be careful about booking it too late because even if you were there during Illuminations I wouldn't think you'd be guaranteed a great table for viewing...

They are also pretty good about getting people in and out, and not guaranteeing anything for Illuminations. There are signs posted about Illuminations seating too, though I cannot remember what it said.

But, if you do end up lingering for a while, i.e. the from 6:45-9:15, keep in mind that your server probably could have had another table, and more cash to take home from gratuity. I like to keep that in mind when I linger at busy restaurants. :goodvibes

From what I've heard on the DIS boards is that 7:00 is the earliest to keep your table at R and C. So--6:45 is too early; they won't let you stay. There's a 2 hour policy.

I have not read this anywhere :confused3 You may be right I may be crazy... but if a party were ordering several rounds of drinks, even a bottle of wine & had ordered a couple appetisers, then dinner, then dessert & they ended up taking 2 hours to do it, I would be surprised if they were told 15 minutes before park closing they had to leave due to a 2 hour policy.

Now if they were just sitting there using up space & not running up a tab, I would expect that. Because in general, a dinner at R&C won't take 2 hours. If the OP wants to stay for Illuminations, I still think he's going to have better luck with an 8-8:15 time, but from what I hear you say it's possible with a 7pm? That still seems early to me - possibly 7:30. Anything earlier than that they're gong to be expecting to turn your table.

Anybody know about the seating available for the Yorkshire CS next door?

That's a bit early since Illuminations doesn't start until 9. Can you get a later ADR? Last year ours was for 7:30 and worked out very well, this year we have an ADR for 7:45. If you want to change your time and nothing is available right now, keep checking, people cancel all the time.

If you can't get any closer a time,I suggest you do this: Order drinks when you sit down. When they come, order your appetizers. When you are finished with your appys, then order your entrees. When you finish your entrees, then ask for the dessert menu. That should take up a lot of time.

6:45 is definitely too early for Illuminations at the R&C, unless you really plan on lingering over drinks or dessert. We had an ADR for either 7:45 or 8 and it worked out perfectly. Just keeping checking online. Many people change their ADRs at the last minute, so you never know.
