Hi,
We ate at the Rose and Crown last week for dinner and I wanted to report that it was fabulous! I had the surf and turf and my husband had the Shephard's Pie! Both fantastic! We ended the meal with the Sticky Toffee Desert and we both enjoyed that as well!

I would highly recommend it!

I have seen it recommended that a 7.45pm ressie is best for Illuminations - any thoughts?

Every time I cross Rose & Crown off my to do list, a good review comes along. This is making my decision for ADRs so hard!! ;) I'm glad to see you had a good experience. I can't seem to sell my DH on R&C although both DD17 & I really want to try it...

That is a good time. But its not guaranteed you will get a seat outside. But they do have a private section where you can stand and watch it. its worth it. I did have a great seat this past trip. Best seats in the house as well as in the California grill. Good Luck.

That's just what I was thinking!

We last ate at R&C for lunch in Jan 2008 and were less than impressed. Service was lacking and the food was lukewarm. We decided we would not go back, but I keep hearing good things!

Glad to hear you had a great experience, I have an ADR for there next month.

I have done this and asked for a seat outside. The hostess said I might have to wait longer but it was no problem. There are plenty of diners that aren't hip to the fact that it's the best seat in Epcot for the show. Kids at the table next to us got to "start the show."

A trip to Disney would not be complete without a trip to the Rose and Crown. I love the fish and chips and the prime rib. MMM

We stumbled upon this for our last trip and happened to be there right before illuminations. :cool1: We had a terrific dinner - I had the sheppards pie and I can't remember what DH had, but it was great! We also had a app of a scoth egg which I had never heard of, but the waitress recomended it to us and we really enjoyed it. :thumbsup2 Kids meals were typical and they were happy!

At the end of our meal the waitress escorted us to a private area to view illuminations which was great! We were able to see everything that happened on the water when in the past we were too far behind people to see that part! It was a terrific ending to the night! WE are planning to eat her again at 7:45 so we can see illuminations!

We ate there for lunch in early October. Scotch egg was indeed yummy! The only complaints we had was that service was a bit slow (it seemed like they sat 4 tables for our waiter at the exact same time!), and that what they called "Bubble & Squeek" was NOT proper British Bubble & Squeek!! It was some mashed potatoes with a bit of cabbage thrown in, instead of a fried potato pancake-type thing with a few veggies mixed in. Even our waiter agreed that it was mis-named!

I keep reading R&C posts tonight.

Now I'm dying for a scotch egg, fish & chips and sticky toffee pudding. That is always my favorite meal at WDW.
