Rose and Crown?

Hi everyone,
I just made an ADR for Rose and Crown, how is the food?

Our DNeighbors just returned from WDW and the only place they ate in the World (other than at Pop) was Rose & Crown -- they ate there 2x in one day! Needless to say they rated it highly, but keep in mind, they have nothing to compare it to.

I have ADR's for us at Garden Grill, for our Epcot day, but based on DNeighbors Rx, I was thinking of changing, so I will be curious to see what other posters say.

I don't know what time your ADR is but did you know that its patio is known as one of the best places to watch Illuminations from?

They just had a menu change according to allearsnet.com so I can say what they had before was great the new menu is currently unknown.

Our last visit in June was a major disappointment. We've dined there in the past and always had good food and service, but this trip was not great. DS13 and I both had the fish & chips. The chips were soggy and the fish batter was so tough, we had to use a steak knife to cut through it. DH was not impressed with the bangers and mash. The only plus was being able to watch Illuminations on the covered patio while it was raining. The beer was good, but not worth a repeat visit. You can get the same beer in the pub or at the kiosk outside. The menu changes have not been for the better. It's no longer distinctly British, but has become very generic Americanized. The food quality and service have also gone downhill.

My granddaughter and I ate there 6/28/07 and we loved it. She is 11 and we shared the cheese/fruit appetizer, salad w/stritton (bleau cheese) and tea-time chicken and we couldn't finish it all. Everything was very good. The atmoshpere was perfect for us.

We went in May for an unplanned late lunch (@2pm) and were seated right away...I had the salad with Stinton blue cheese dressing and my DH & 9 yo DS had the fish & chips. I had a hard cider beverage (alcoholic, sorry can't remember what it was called but it was light, cold and refreshing!) and they brought lots of rolls and butter! DS enjoyed it so much he insists we go back while we are there in December!

I thought it was OK. The potato leek soup was very good. The Guiness stew was very good, but luke warm (they don't have it anymore). The menu seems to have cut back on the selections.

We have eaten there several times and always enjoyed it very much. It has always been on our Must Do list. We found the service outstanding and the servers some of the best in WS.
However, the menu has changed again so I am not sure about now.

Sad to say on our last trip in March it was a disappointment for us too. Our server was very nice and very good, but the food wasn't as good as on our trip before that. Oldest DD couldn't even eat her sandwhich cause the bun/roll was too hard. She ended up just eating the meat. What a waste of money. We even brought it to their attention and all they said was oh sorry.

Yum! DH and I eat there regularly. Our last dinner was in May, during the Flower and Garden Festival. DH had the steak (the menu item is listed as Steak and Fish, but DH declines the fish and they give him extra veggies instead) and I had the vegetarian root vegetable pot pie. Both were very good. The Rose & Crown has a fun, festive atmosphere and we like having a drink at the bar before dinner.

i wouldnt waist your $$$there..you should try it once ,,,but its not worth it,,everyone tries .it ..some like it ..i hate it..nothing like a guppy and chips dinner..the fish is under cooked so they can get it out faster for more $$$$$but give it a shot,,and see. at least you can say you ate there and thats a bout it..
