Just in time for Illuminations!

I have not heard great things about this restaurant, but when my fiancé sent me a text at 7:45 to say we would have a table ready in 30 min I freaked out! We were seated at about 8:20 on the patio! This was out first time seeing Illuminations and it was incredible!

Now the food was so-so. We had the appetizer trio, which was very good. He had the Guinness stew and I had the fish and chips, both were ok. Is this why the restaurant was not too full? I mean, we did have a bit of a wait, but I really thought with the fireworks viewing it would be more crowed...There were a few tables around us that I could tell were finished with dinner but were sticking around for the show.

We managed a walk-up (with wait) the Friday before last and watched Illuminations from our patio table. The food isn't what it once was, but is still as good as most places on the dining plan, which plays heavily into most of the dining issues at WDW these days. The fish and chips is about the only thing I'll order now, but they used to have a really good prime rib. Even the fish and chips used to come with peas and more fish.

Another factor in being able to be seated in a lot of restaurants is people making multiple ADRs for the same meal to cover wherever they will end up for that meal. So, when a restaurant says they are booked solid, that changes as people don't show up.

We were at Rose and Crown for dinner on Oct. 17th. It was the first time that we had eaten there and I can certainly understand some of the poor reviews that the restaurant has been getting. It was probably the worst dinner that we've had aT WDW. We had the Sunday Dinner. The roast beef was dry and tasteless and the vegetables were cooked beyond recognition. I definitely would not say that it was as good as the other restaurants on the dining plan as one poster mentioned. It is in no way in the same class as Kona Cafe, Turf Club and Kona Cafe (to name a few) all of which are one credit TS restaurants on the meal plan. We won't be going back.

P.S. We loved our server. She was delightful, but overextended with too many tables.

We also ate at Kona Cafe and LOVED it. It was maybe the best meal of the trip. We didn't do the dining plan for several reasons, mostly flexibility. I was just so surprised we were able to get a table just before Illuminations. That really made my night.
