Does Illuminations always go on at 9:00? For Rose and Crown during evening EMH which would be a better time to coincide with Illuminations?

7:45 or 8:15? We have a large party of 10 so I'm assuming it will take a while to get seated

For a large party like that, you won't be seated where you can see the show. That is what everyone wants. There is a picnic area next door. Depending on when you go, this area may be full. People tend to park here to wait. I'd go for 7p.m. at latest.

Can't we still go out on the patio to watch the show even if we eat inside???

Yes you can. I also say the earlier the better for the ADR time, although it's just my BF and I when we go. I haven never gone with a large party. Each night we were at Epcot, R&C was very crowded and busy at night for Illuminations. We had 7:35pm ADR for a 9pm Illuminations at R&C and it took us 20 minutes just to check-in to our ADR, before we even got a pager. We weren't sat until about 8:25. We had a table on the upper patio and the awning partially blocked our view of Illuminations. Since we were seated late, we were still eating when Illuminations started so we didn't feel like moving to see it better. Although, our server did tell us we could move for a better view.

Illuminations is almost always at 9 pm, except during the holidays when it runs at 9:30 pm. So if you're going when the Candlelight Processional is occurring you might want to check the schedule.

If you are seated inside or at an outside table without a good view, you can go to the viewing area reserved for Rose & Crown patrons. It's to the left of the restaurant. Just tell your server you want to see Illuminations and they will take you out there. With regards to the patio, they do not want you to go out onto the patio because there are other guests seated out there and you might disrupt their view or meal.

We did this in August, but I got a 7PM ressie because I wasn't thinking about watching Illuminations from there. We got there a little after 7, and asked for an outside table to watch show. We got the usual "no guarantees but we will try" speech.

We didn't get seated until about 7:40, and of course, they took us right to a table outside. The first thing our waiter said to us was "I am not going to let you leave here until after Illuminations." It was a fabulous experience.

I can't say whether or not there are tables for 10 outside, but perhaps you can split into two groups. After all, when you make the ressies for a group that size, you will get the usual "we will try to seat you all together, but no guarantees." We have made 2 trips with groups of 9 and never had to split tables.

Good Luck!!
