Has anyone ever tried to slip the CM's a tip in order to get outdoor seating? Or is this just very rude to do at WDW? Works in Vegas!! :rotfl:

Anytime I've eaten there and requested outdoors I've received it in both crowded and uncrowded times at the restaurant.

One thing that we have done at other restaurants is make the ADR earlier than we want to eat (say 5:30 if we really wanted 6:00). When we arrive we just indicate that we would like to wait for the next available table in the location we want. Essentially, it keeps you at the top of the list. In the end, we usually end up being seated at our desired time (without having to spend any more!).

I actually witnessed someone trying to tip the hostess in order to get an outside table during our visit last June. I was waiting to check in when I saw the guy in front of me try to give the hostess a $5, which she politely declined, telling him they can't accept tips for seating. Then, he tried upping it to $10, then $20. The hostess repeatedly told him she couldn't accept the tip, no matter how large. She told him he would be seated outside if a table became available, but there were no guarantees. He got mad and left. :confused3 It's not that great sitting outside, especially if it's raining or very hot. We've been outside and inside. If you dine inside, you're allowed to go out to the patio during Illuminations. There are tables and chairs available. Our waitress even brought out our drinks and desserts while we watched the show.

The hosts are not allowed to accept tips (neither are counter service people or kiosk servers). It could cost them their jobs.

If outdoor seating is that important to you, request it when you check in and then be prepared to wait for it. On a not so great day, I'm sure you will get your request right away.

Restaurants have to balance out seating so all the servers get equal business. One shouldn't be overloaded while another one has enough time to read a newspaper.

Thanks for your opinions! I wouldn't have tried it anyway...I can't even do it in Vegas where it's acceptable. I'm a wimp! Will take my chances when we get there.

$10??????????;)

1) Nah.
2) Few people really like Hamilton.
3) However.
4) Jackson ($20 bill) was a popular president, and so was Grant ($50 bill)
5) Let us know which president is the favorite at the UK pavilion.

(Obviously, I joke. No amount of money can buy a patio seat. Well, OK, so maybe BIG BUCKS can do it.)
