Rose and Crown outdoor patio in December...

Just wondering if the outdoor pation is even open in December. I know that it affords a nice view of Illuminations (and I understand the "policy" about not requesting a patio table) but December nights can get quite chili in Florida so has anyone actually eaten dinner outside? Did you freeze?

There's no way of knowing what the weather will be like in December. You could have warm days with cool evenings and chilly mornings, or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoons in the 40s and low 50s. If you get the latter, you definitely won't want to be eating outside.

So check the forecast a few days before you leave to see which you will get (or you could get both over the course of a few days).

I am fairly certain that they have outdoor heaters in the ceilings of the patio area. The patio has been open everytime we have been there in Dec/Jan.

We dined at R&C in Dec for dinner one evening. The temp was a high in the mid 50's that day, and our dinner was at 5 p.m. We were seated on the patio, but closest to the building. The 'porch' was sort of enclosed and would have been ok, but we were out on the lower patio. It was COLD. and windy. They could not move us inside (we asked). They had patio heaters, but for some reason they were not working. A manager finally come by as we were being served our dessert and started working on the heaters. They finally got them working as we were paying our bill. The food was good, but it was hard to eat wearing all those layers, and gloves!

Like Bob posted above, it's hard to know the weather any time of the year. Try www.undergroundweather.com then click on trip planning it will give you the average temps during the day and night. We ate on the pato in late Oct and it was the best area to view the fireworks!
