What is a better ADR. Time for a 9pm illuminations with a chance to sit outside. We are a party of 5 going in July and there is a 7pm and 7:45pm available Thanks

Rose & Crown does not guarantee a table outside. You can request it at the podium when you check in, but they may tell you that you have to take the next available table. I would plan on being told that you cannot wait for a patio table (also note that not all patio tables have a good view of IllumiNations).

As for the ADR time, an average TS meal takes about 90 minutes, depending on the number of courses ordered. If you have an ADR at 7 pm, there is the possibility that you will finish before 9 pm. So to avoid that, I would pick the 7:45 pm ADR.

Go with 7:45. We had a 7:40 and it was PERFECT. We were just finishing up our dessert as Illuminations began. Also, we arrived about 20 minutes before our ADR and told them we really would like a table outside. Right at 7:40 we were given a table along the front railing. It was one of the best parts of our trip. We all LOVED it! Enjoy!

7:45 is indeed your best bet.

Last December we had a 7:45 for R&C - keeping in mind that in December Illuminations is moved to 9:30 due to Candlelight Processional -

And we told them upon checking in that we wanted to wait for a seat on the terrace, and they said OK - but it will be up to 30 minutes- that was totally fine with us. It was actually about 15 minutes - and we had a PERFECT table.

Order the cheese and fruit tray, order drinks, take your time - make it a very leisurely meal, and you will NOT be disappointed with the experience.

our server knew that we were waiting on Illuminations, so she kept our water and soft drinks filled, and brought us an extra about 10 minutes for Illuminations started.

We saw Illuminations 3 times on that trip - and all three times we had 'reserved' seating LOL

We took the Undiscovered Future World tour, and as part of that they gave us assigned tickets to come back for reserved viewing directly in front of the Italy Pavilion.

The second time was at Rose & Crown - AMAZING

And we had reserved an Illuminations Cruise for our 2nd to last night - we shared it with another family - and invited my wife's cousin who works at WDW along as she had never been on an Illuminations Cruise. It was a BLAST - but it was SOOOOOO cold - we were all cuddled up under blankets it was so cold! We were numb by the end of Illuminations.

In order I would rank the viewing:
illuminations Cruise - you can't beat being ON the water to see the show.
Rose & Crown - next best thing to being on the water.
and In front of Italy - we had to stand the whole time - BUT it is a great place to watch from!

At Rose & Crown we DID have an interesting experience with a SNAKE on the terrace! It caused a bit of a commotion right in the middle of Illuminations :scared1:

Looking back, it was so funny!!!! :lmao:

csharpwv do you mind me asking how much the Illuminations cruise was? We have a grand gathering of WDW vets and I am trying to find things we have not done before :thumbsup2

The price is $346.13 without the tip for the captain.

It includes about an hour on the boat, and from the dock at the Yacht/Beach Club - and your captain will take you out to Hollywood Studios, turn around - and then come back and dock under the bridge between the UK and France Pavilions.

They provide refreshments (Water, Soda, Chips, Pretzels etc) and blankets if it is a chilly night.

We have done an Illuminations Cruise twice now - the first time another family shared with my wife and I - and my parents, and the 2nd time we booked it and shared it with another family.

They are a lot of fun, and it really is the BEST seat to see everything.

If you can see it with the holiday tag - that is THE BEST - as the additional fireworks are really a great effect bring right on the water! AMAZING!

Also something that you guys might want to consider is doing a tour -
All of you could do the Keys to the Kingdom Tour - or the steam train tour.
Depending on how many of you there are - you could pool your money and get a VIP tour guide for the day so you can get priority seating for parades, shows, fireworks, etc etc - plus get a lot of other perks like private transportation between all the parks so you can ride all the attractions in one day!

Newbie to WDW here - if we have a 6:50 reservation and Rose and Crown (only thing available on 8/8), will they allow us to go outside after dinner to watch IllumiNations or we will be asked to leave?
