Hello,
Im making an ADR for Rose and Crown.

I just need to double check what time i should make the ADR in order to catch Illuminations and where should I say I want to sit (patio, terrace)?

Also if anyone has any opinions on R&C, please let me know as it is going to be my first time eating there.
Thanks.

Your best bet is to schedule your adr 45mins to an hour before the show.

However I must warn you I don't believe you can request where to sit, it is luck of the draw.
Meaning you may not get a seat able to view the show. But I do believe they let you get up during the show and go watch it from the patio.

You are seated wherever the next available table is and you must take it, no waiting for the next one. There is an area where inside diners can go outside to view Illuminations.

We have ours scheduled for 6:55. We're slow eaters, though (allergies in the party, so meals take a bit longer to prepare, and we're on the deluxe plan, so we have appetizers to further slow things down), so we're hoping they won't kick us out before the show begins. Our average TS meal is about 1.5 hours from the time we are seated. We also plan on checking in no more than a few min early, so we don't get seated early.

Anyone have experience with this? (this was the latest ADR available)

We've made adr's here for NYE at 10 pm and illuminations start at 11;45 so we're hoping that will work out. I'd like to be on the patio as well but if it's cold then maybe being inside is a better option since people here are saying they let you go outside to view the fireworks. It is by DH's birthday on Jan. 1st and I've ordered a birthday cake as well... so hopefully they don't rush us out!!

I have reservations for 7:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve and hoping they won't kick us out before Illuminations begins. Can we go to the viewing area and just wait if we are done early?

This is a bit early. WDW restaurants serve dinner pretty quickly. You may find them pushing you to vacant your table. 7:30 -7:45pm ADR's have always workd for us.

We always get a ADR between 7 and 7:15 because it always seems to take us 15-30 minutes to actually get seated.

I just noticed on the WDW dining page that Rose and Crown only seves dinner until 8:00. I assume this is because once you get into the 8:30 area, they know no one will want to leave.

So, if you are still eating at 8:20-8:30, there'd be no reason for them to kick you out, as no one would be waiting for a table.

Does this sound right?

I was fortunate to have dinner on the Rose & Crown patio to see Illuminations a month ago. It wasn't planned, no ADR or anything, it just happened. It was nice, but I've seen Illuminations many times from just about any vantage point and have learned to enjoy it from wherever I happen to be.

Thanks a bunch, will try to make reservations for 7:55 or as close to 8 as possible.

We've been to R&C twice for Illuminations. Both times we got ADR's for ~ an hour before. First time, we were seated in a corner on the patio... great seats. PLUS, our daughter got selected to 'Start' Illuminations. I don't know if they still do it or not. When it was time to start, DD, DW, and I (with camera) were brought to another area of the patio, DD was given a flashlight, and at the right time, waved the flashlight up and down during the '10 count' just before the start. She got a certificate & everything. She ended up crying because she didn't want everyone looking at her (she was 3).

Second time, we were on the patio but closer to the walkway than the water. They held delivering our entree until after Illuminations. We watched the fireworks, then ate. We were the last ones out of R&C. Walked back to the busses through an empty Epcot! Too cool!

Maybe an odd question but if you are lucky enough to dine on the patio during the fireworks, and the diners from inside get to come out to the patio, does the patio get crowded or is there a separate area just for observing??

I'm wondering the same thing. The latest reservation I can find for our week is 7:00 pm, so that is what I currently have. If we finish our dinner do we have to leave the restaurant or is there a place on the patio where we can go to stand, out of the way of the people who might be dining there?

There is a separate patio observation area, away from the tables. DD won our family access to the viewing area for Illuminations, even though we ween't eating at R&C. They also gave us glasses that turned all points of light into Mickey Heads. Anyway, the viewing area we were in was in the back of R&C, adjacent to (but separate from) the outdoor seating for diners.
