Hello, I keep watching videos on rope drop each park but all of them seem to be driving. I hear the Disney transportation opens an hour before the park officially opens but I also seen in peoples videos that the parks sometimes open earlier than they officially say. Am I better off paying for the cheapest Disney hotel and paying for ubers there each morning ? Or is there a hotel with faster/ or earlier transportation to the parks then others.
thanks

Transportation is always different every day. A resort with a faster bus today may be the slower bus today. Your best guarantee for easy access to 2 of the parks is a stay at a crescent lake resort, where you can walk over to Epcots and Hollywood Studios. Otherwise, for buses, you typically want to be in line about 90 minutes before posted opening to get to the park early. Contemporary and Grand Floridian also allow you to walk to MK.

Also, yes, all parks open roughly 45 minutes before posted opening time. Walkers are typically first in line, especially at HS and Epcot. I've seen some reports of walkers from contemporary area being held up while buses are unloading, again, varies by day.

Ok thank you. What are your thirst on Uber to the parks if you don’t have a car ?

I’ve never done Uber, but I know it’s been discussed a lot. If you have small children, I probably would skip it, due to car seat issues etc.

If you’re able to utilize, the ride shares do have to wait in the same line into the parking lots as the rest of the cars. However, a lot of people have utilized ride shares to be dropped off at the Swan or Dolphin hotel as they’re not Disney owned and don’t have the same parking lot security, then walking to either Epcot or Hollywood studios.

others have had intermittent success doing similar at the contemporary resort, but with a mobile order. However, security guards here have been inconsistent about letting people in. Using a ride share to the hotel without an adr or mobile order should be avoided as you’ll likely be forced back into the car and dropped elsewhere.

I have also heard due to pandemic, there’s fewer drivers and higher prices around Disney World. Not sure if this is still an issue or if it was more a spring break issue.

For more info, I’d check in on the “here now & just back” thread and see what others have experienced for ride shares to rope drop the parks recently.

I’ve never taken anything but Disney transportation and have always successfully rope dropped.

Where have you stayed at to do this and any tips you can give me please ??

In Dec 2020, we stayed at Copper Creek, Animal Kingdom and Beach Club. The best advice for resorts not in walking distance from parks is to be on the first bus out of resort in the AM. So check with resort to find out when first bus departs and you’ll be fine. Even staying at AKV which is farthest from MK, we still walked on Mine Train at rope drop. If you’re not staying at Boardwalk or Beach Club and going to EP or HS, I’d probably Uber to Swan n Dolphin as mentioned above and just walk over to the parks. I was already passing through turnstiles when some of the first buses were arriving at HS.
