Rope Drop Question

Hi! I've scheduled reservations for my son at Pirates League at 9:20 a.m. and my daughter at BBB at 9:25. The park opens at MK at 9. Will someone please tell me if the rope-drop ceremony finishes at 9 or begins at 9? I'd like to see the ceremony (because in our six previous visits we've never arrived early enough), but will enter early if we need to. I hear being in Disney before other quests arrive is pretty special, too.
