Rope drop or no rope drop?

Just a quick question...

My DH and I are heading to WDW September 16 - 23. I'm wondering if it will be worth it to be at the parks for rope drop? I've heard that the crowds are very low in September anyway and we like sleeping in a bit on vacation.:rotfl:

Will it be just as dead during the day in September as it would be any other time during rope drop?

Thanks! :goodvibes

We always get their at rope drop. Sleep in at Disney? That's why I always take the next week off when I get back so I can catch up on my sleep and relax when I get home.:cool1:

:rotfl2: Not sleeping in too much! How could you?! ;) I mean sleeping in until 8am or so... haha

I'm also one who would rather risk falling asleep in my office on my return, than miss park opening ;)

After experiencing how much can be accomplished by getting to the park at RD, I can't imagine arrivng any later.

ROPE DROP!! nap mid day when its hottest:goodvibes
No matter what time of year we go (and we have been about 10 months out of the twelve)...we always get up at the crack of dawn and get to the parks at opening. You get SO much done in such a short time, its cooler, and you can take a mid day nap or swim if needed :thumbsup2
My family always protests at getting up so early, but they are thankful when we walk on to the rides

Some rides have long lines even in September. I would rather get up early and not stand in line for 30-45 minutes later in the day. TSMM, RnRC, TOT, Peter Pan, Pooh, Splash, Space, EE, Soarin', and TT always seem to have long lines. (Now it is 45min instead of 120+min in the middle of the day - I just still don't want to wait!)

for days I am at the magic kingdom I always plan an early breakfast inside at crystal palace so I am already inside when the park opens.

we tend to go to parks that don't have EMH and find them not as packed, and at RD its even better

We did two rope drops this past week and it was great!!!!

At DHS, we got there at 8:15 AM and, by the time we were heading back to the hotel at noon, we had ridden TSMM twice, still had one FP left, and could have gotten another. We will do DHS again this way. It was easy enough to do.

At MK, it was also an EMH day in the morning so there were maybe 300 people who were there and most of them ran off to Space Mountain. We rode all that we wanted to in Fantasyland: two straight turns on Peter Pan, IaSW, Pooh, Buzz. Then we headed over to the Haunted Mansion for a quick ride before every one else made it over after regular hours began. You can be very productive during those sixty minutes, believe me.

I'll voice a contrary opinion...

Going at a dead time of year there is really no need to drag yourself to the gates for rope drop EVERY morning. It is always a good idea to make rope drop at DHS because of the TSM craziness. Maybe one day catch the opening show at MK and do a couple of rides with stubborn queues (Dumbo and Peter Pan). Other than that you will be able to see and do everything at a relaxed pace. Just accumulate those FPs and you won't wait a bit for anything -and sleep in too!

We have yet to ever make it to a rope drop.... one day. LOL

I would do rope drop every day, even if it meant total exhaustion. But we are morning people, so getting up is easy. Now, staying up late at night...that is hard for me!

Thank you! :-D

We like doing rope drop in September. We hit rope drop, chill at the hotel pool for the steamy afternoon hours then return to a park around 5 pm for dinner and evening activities. Just remember, the popular rides in each park usually have a wait regardless of the time of year. It's just so much sweeter to go in Sept. early in the a.m. and being able to walk-on everything. We get a lot done in each park in a short time and also get to enjoy our hotel and other areas of WDW.
