Rope drop/castle show with Early Morning Magic

Hi! We're in WDW and we were thinking about MK rope drop tomorrow. I see that they have the ticketed EMM going on. We're not interested in doing that but wondering how it affects rope drop.

We've never done any drop ever. What time should you show up? I know they moved the welcome show to the castle stage but is there anything else we should know?

If you are going to rope drop 7DMT or PP, it will increase your wait times at rope drop. If you are not going to these rides, it will not really affect you much. At Magic Kingdom, they open Main Street to everyone around an hour before opening, but they hold you at the hub until after the welcome show. If we are on site, we usually leave our room about an hour before park opening. That usually gets us at the gate 20-30 minutes before opening.

I disagree with PP about 7DMT and PP. By the time the rope drop crowd is let in, the EMM people have finished with those two rides and moved on. EMM has virtually no impact on rope drop.

So, if 7DMT is your goal, you'll want to be inside MK no later than 8:30, and probably a little earlier, so you can be near the front of the crowd lining up for the route towards 7DMT. Otherwise, you're probably fine getting there at 8:45 or so and finding the rope barring access to the part of the park you wish to tour first.
