Rope Drop at MK

While I'm not new to READING the DIS Boards, I am new to posting!
Two trips ago we had reservations for breakfast at Cinderella's Castle. We then waited by the castle for the rope drop in the morning. Last trip we waited out before the turnstiles & Mickey & friends arrived by train, then we got to go in at opening. So my question is, do you have to have a reservation for breakfast to be by Cindie's castle at opening? My girls were selected to wave the flag to 'officially' open the park; it was quite neat.

Yes.

If you want to see the rope drop ceremony taking place on the train platform you don't need to do anything other than arrive at the front gates 20-30 minutes early.
But if you want to be back by the castle at opening time, you need early CRT ressies.
