Rope drop and rider swap

No not until boarding, just until the front gate where on one side you scan with magic bands if you had a LL

The official line starts where they have the big ride sign upfront. They don’t allow kids who don’t meet height requirements beyond that so they can say that the child didn’t enter the queue - tricky tricky

Finally found a video for clarification-you do have to stay together in the line up until the main sign:

How long does the rider swap last now? Last time we went it was *supposed to be* an hour window but seemed to last all day? Can the little one go ride something else at rope drop after we’ve gotten to the point where we tap in to get rider swap? Not trying to game the system, but would prefer not to make my shorty wake up early if it’s just to watch everyone else ride without her.

After you get the rider switch, you still end up waiting 45+ minutes, so at that point you can go ride something. The rider switch starts after that and the ones we got lasted to the end of the day BUT you cannot get another without using it up

Also, the waiting in line as a group was not a negative at FOP. The outdoor extended queue was only 5 mins because the indoor can handle over an hour. The CM gave the posted wait time and did not add another 15+ mins like they used to, so we waited less time vs the rider switch with FP+ overall.

Edit: Now I’m rethinking if the rider switch was active immediately; I just remember that we waited less vs the old system. Maybe that’s how it’s working now and they want to make sure the first party actually goes in the line. Maybe people were getting the rider switch and exiting the line and that’s why the rule changed.

Will they let you rider swap at the ride itself for say TOT if the kid who won't ride is tall enough?
