Hi: Looking at the 50's prime time menu and spotted "root vegetable hash". What is it?

Deb.

never eaten it there, but my grandmother used to make a hash of potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, and garlic - and all of those are 'rot vegetables'?

Of course, so are turnips and beets, so maybe i'm guessing wrong...

At 50's Prime Time, Root Veg. Hash is made up of parsnip, carrot and potato. I believe it is also cooked in a vegetable stock which gives it a nice flavor and allows the root veg to cook through.

My DD13 did not enjoy it, but teens often rebel against the dreaded vegetable.

I've seldom seen a menu with an item that sounds any less appealing.

But ... I agree with Bicker. Get past the name, and you'll be treated to a really good side dish.

Not sure exactly what it consists of I didn't like it at all. It tasted like it sounds, roots, like it should be in the ground not on your plate.

How is 50's PTC about substitutions? We're trying it for the first time in September. I've been wanting to try the fried chicken but I just noticed that it now comes with Southern greens instead of green beans. Yuck. Is there any chance I can get them to substitute? Or at least leave off the greens altogether? :crazy2:
