I've seen several post in the last few days about root canals. Dh had one done last wed. and by Thursday his mouth was the size of a baseball if not bigger. He got an infection had to go back Thursday and have the temporary filling taken out. He has put on stronger antibiotics (SP?), and told to come back Tuesday. He went back yesterday it's still infected they put another temporary filling in. gues what today his outh is swollen again. He went back and they took the temporary filling out, and now it will stay out until we get back from Disney. I'm hoping he will make out ok in disney. The dentist gave him more medicine so I guess we will have to see how DH makes out in Disney. Anyone else have bad luck with root canals?

I had 3 root canals done on the same tooth before I finally just had it pulled.
Whenever they did the root canal they would stuff cotton or something in there temporarily, (to make sure everything was okay before they filled it). Having it closed up made it swell and get infected again, and I would have to go back in to have them remove the stuff...and the pain. I guess that tooth was just too far gone.

I had another root canal on a different tooth that went very smoothly.

I'm currently having bad luck with a root canal. I also had one done last Wednesday. Went back to the endodontist yesterday to find out why I was in so much pain and why my gums were swollen up so bad. Turns out I'm having an allergic reaction to the cement. He put me on some kind of medicine that seems to be helping. I'm not crying in pain anymore. I have to go back in May for a follow up, after which I will probably have a new crown made. They had to drill through my crown to do the root canal. (Figures, the crown was only 2 years old).

The endo also said he's "a little concerned" about the tooth in front of the root canal tooth. A possible problem may be developing there. Oh, joy - another root canal. Another allergic reaction to cement? I can hardly wait.
