Rooms for families of 5 and how many days do we need?

My children are 17,14 and 11 at time of travel.

Do you know what days of the week you would be going into Paris as a weekly travel pass might be cheaper and there are also rates for the children at weekends :)

We don't know yet, but I expect we will be there at least 8 nights.

We put a deposit on the June 8, 2013 7-night Med DCL cruise and are in the beginning stages of planning a trip to DLP, too. From what I've read this evening, another good option for your family may be purchasing the Paris Visite Pass--you can get them for 1, 2, 3, or 5 days and they include bus, Metro, and RER. You need to get Zones 1-5 to be sure transportation to/from DLP is included. Prices start at 19,60 for 1-day pass up to 51,20 for a 5-day pass.

We're probably going to use our DVC points to spend 5 nights at DLP, using it as our home base and journey into Paris a few of those days before taking the Eurostar over to London for a few more nights.

So much to learn! Thank goodness there is almost a year and a half to prepare.

We're also doing a Med cruise! 12 day July 13 to Greece! Lots more to research but the idea of perhaps the Explorers for 8 days and a 5 day visitor pass for zones 1-5 make sense. Where do you buy these passes? Are they purchased ahead of time?

The official Ratp site with information on the Paris visite pass

http://www.ratp.fr/en/ratp/c_21894/paris-visite/

It costs 53,40€ for 5 days

They will send them to you and it's 20€ for delivery to North America

I was thinking of you getting a weekly Navigo pass. They cost 33,80€ for unlimited use on metro/bus/tram and RER from Monday-Sunday.

That's why they are interesting depending on your days as if you were going Thursday-Tuesday it's not worth getting.

A Navigo needs a photo (bring your own) and there's a 5€ one off charge for making the pass
