Roommates- Forum vs. Potluck?

Hey everyone! So I was wondering if it is better finding a roommate on the forum/facebook or have people been better off with potluck?

I don't arrive until the fall, but in my experiences for school, i've had random roommates assigned to me (I live in the dorms) and they have both gone really badly. I know that this doesn't apply to everyone and some random matches may turn out really well, but I decided to find roommates beforehand and thankfully they all sound really awesome. It's really up to you, especially if you are looking for something specific in a roommate/suitemates.

When I did mine, I found mine on the facebook group for my check-in. I got pretty lucky with mine, and I love the three of them to death.

When you find someone, immediately realize that they are putting their best foot forward, and you will not know their quirks until you live together. No matter how honest anyone is, you can be that they're holding something back, I'm sure you will too. Its nothing bad, but be prepared. Someone who says they're "a little messy," may be a total slob. Someone who like to "throw a few parties, but nothing ever too raging," could very well be a huge party animal.

So be prepared for whatever you get. It sounds really pessimistic, but just assume everyone lies. We all sound like the perfect roommate over the internet, but we all have our own little things.

My other 5 roommates were all potluck and I love every single one of them!!
