do you love it!

Was it worth the $

I just got a great deal and ordered one with virtual walls, self charger, etc...
please tell me I am going to love it!

:confused3 My sister Mert has one....she tripped over it and broke her arm. After that she gave it to one of the other sisters; she said it was okay but she still uses her Dyson about once a week.

It is okay
It is not a vaccuum it is a sweeper. There is no suction just rotating brushes. The compartment for the dirt is small and needs frequent emptying.

I agree, it is ok. DH bought mine for me last year and it really isn't worth the price he paid. They have come down a bit now though, and if you have the extra money it does save some work.

I still have to vacuum at least every week though -- we have 3 boys and 3 dogs. Roomba is no match.

I love ours! I would buy another one in a heartbeat when this one breaks. The company has the best customer service of any company I've ever dealt with and really stands behind their product. I've had one for 2 years and use it often (probably 10 times/week at least).

I wonder how good they are at keeping up with a continually shedding Golden Retriever?

She sheds about a puppy a day. Or so it seems when I sweep.

The best thing is how they vacuum up the pet hairs! We have 4 cats and 2 dogs. Most don't shed too much, but one of the dogs is a terrible shedder. We run our Roomba most nights in our kitchen (no sweeping!) and then most every day I run it in another area. I'm amazed at how many pet hairs it picks up the day after vacuuming with the upright.

Thanks for your response!

I was able to get the top line one with the timer, self charger, virtual walls and all for $190
I didn't shop around a ton but that seemed like a really good price to me!
The new house is kinda big comapred to what I am use to so WORST case senerio I would leave it on one of the three floors and minimize my workload a bit

I am going to give it to DH for christmas since he does NO housework - lol

When I run mine I break the area down into smaller jobs. The biggest area that I run it in is the "front of the house", meaning the living and dining rooms and the large foyer. Sometimes I'll run it in just one or 2 of those areas, especially if there are lots of pet hairs. Then I'll run it in the family room another time. And the upstairs hallway another time... I have 2 batteries, but not the self charging base. Didn't really need the base since I'm at home and just manually change the batteries. Not a big deal, but the slef charging base would be good especially if you aren't home.

I have hardwood floors in about 2/3rds of my house. Can the Roomba make the transition from wood to carpeted areas?

My dog is the biggest sissy alive and I actually think this thing would terrorize her. She's petrified of the vacuum cleaner.

It fine going from wood to wall to wall carpeting, at least in my house. Some people say it has a hard time going from the wood floor to an area rug. I've had one that mine did fine on, but I don't have the rug down now. It was an area rug over carpeting and it made that transition fine.

Oh, and your dog would adjust, at least ours did. Our kittens will swat at it, sure that it is out to get them. Sometimes the kitten will dare the Roomba to get her and then when it comes at her she jumps up in surprise. :rotfl:

Wow, that is a great deal! I just bought the same one and paid $299 and thought I got a good deal (from HSN).

I'm getting it just to touch up everyday not to replace my regular vacuum. Hopefully that will help keep the leaves (dogs are always bringin leaves in with them) and pet hair from getting out of hand.

Man, I can't seem Roomba without now thinking of the Saturday Night Live skit (commercial) for the Woomba and :rotfl2: :rotfl2: .

:rotfl: My Roomba does NOT go there! I do not have the snarky roomba! :rotfl2:

There have been a good number of threads recently about the Roomba. It's excellent. It has completely replaced our regular vacuum for everything except stairs and area rugs. It does a far better job than I would with the regular vacuum -- it fits under the waterbed -- I don't! :)

The best thing about it is that in just a couple of minutes, we can get it started in a room, any day of the week. Therefore, each room gets cleaned more often, and dirt never builds up. That's especially critical this time of year, as they start salting and sanding the roads. That stuff wreaks havoc on wood floors! Roomba is just one more layer of protection against that.

We bought the newest model, the Rooma Scheduler, and we haven't even figured out how to program it yet. What it does, right out-of-the-box is more than enough for us. I believe you can set it up in a room, plug its charger into the wall, and program it to start vacuuming the room at a specific time. It'll find its way back to the charger by itself, and presumably you can schedule it to do another round later in the day, which might be useful if you have a very large room to cover. However, my wife and I just figure, "Why bother?" We just pick it up off its charger, put it down in a room. Turn it on and close the door. The next day we just drop it off in a different room. And so on...
