We've had our Roomba for 5 years. We are on our second battery and now it looks like we will have to buy a third battery. I'm kind of over the Roomba because even when we had the Roomba fully charged it only worked for an hour. I loved it at first but having to shell out 50 or so dollars for a new battery each time seems ridiculous.

However, I wanted to get opinions and views from other Roomba owners. Should I just give up on Roomba and go towards more of a Stick Vacumn or should I go ahead and shell out another $50.00?

I've got two and just keep buying new batteries. I figure its worth it and its not like I buy a new battery every year.

We had ours about 3 years and had to buy a new battery. Soon after the whole thing decided that forward was a bad direction and will only go in reverse. Grrrr. So now it sits waiting for my husband to see if he can fix it, with a new battery in it. In the mean time, my regular vacuum stopped sucking so today my new Dyson arrived. The roomba was great when I had my son home with me but now that he's in school full-time and I'm a stay at home mom, it's not as necessary so in our case, I would just replace the battery and not get a new one.

I have one and I will never get rid of it. Ebay has batteries for $30. I love the fact that it actually cleans all the floors including under the sofa and beds. I have asthma and I have 5 dogs so having clean house is a must! If you are willing to do daily what your roomba does then go ahead and change but I have mine vacuum my house 3 times a day there is no way I will be doing that much if I didn't have the roomba.

bumping I have ceramic floors and some area rugs will a Roomba work I HATE MY VACUME CLEANER I own a bird and everytime I vacume it just spits out the seeds out the back grrr:mad:

love my Roomba....had it for years. I also have a Dyson I use on my ceramic tile. All of my bedrooms have carpet, I use my Roomba in those rooms. My main living area I use my Dyson. I know the Roomba is good for everything but that's just the way I do it....the best part of the Roomba is it get's in spaces nothing else can get in to... I love to clean it when it's done and see how much stuff it's picked up! :goodvibes

We've given up on ours. I got so tired of shelling out for new batteries, parts, etc. Don't even get me going on the Scooba. We've paid so much to replace parts on that thing only to have it completely fail to the point where we can't fix it anymore. Both are great concepts, but aren't very robust in practice IMHO. Too darn bad, because I loved them both when they did work.
