We just got back from "the World" and have already started planning our 2012 trip to Disneyland! When we were in Florida we stayed in a large 2 bedroom timeshare suite. There doesn't seem to be any of those available in the Aneheim area, at least through our company. We are a family of 5. The kids will be 14, 10, and 4.5 when we go. I've read everyone loves the HOJO, but I didn't know if they had rooms big enough for all of us, or if it would be better to go to one of the hotels that have suites. And if you were going to stay in a suite, which one would you recommend?

We have stayed at the RI Maingate in their Penthouse suite numerous times and love it. Check Hojo's site for a room description of their Kids Suite, it may work for you. There are places directly across from the DLR that combine two rooms to make a suite.

I've stayed at the Residence Inn Anaheim Resort Area/Garden Grove and would recommend it if location is not a priority. It's on Harbor and about a five-seven minute drive to Disneyland. We've always stayed in the 2 bedroom suite: 1 king in one room and 2 queens in the other - both have full bathrooms, a living area with pullout, a kitchen and small dining area. It's perfect for a large family. I'll include the link so you can look at the details.

We have stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton if you like that brand. It is off Harbor & Chapman and not in walking distance. However, it was redecorated in 2008 and the rooms feel very modern and updated. The free breakfast in the morning also was a nice way to start our days. They have studio, 1 BR and 2 BR rooms all with full kitchens.

You could probably fit in the HOJO Kids Suite. The 2 younger ones can use the bunk bed and the older can use the pull out sofa. They have their own bathroom. Then connected is a room with a king size bed, bathroom, fridge and microwave.

Some other options would be:

Embassy Suites South - not really walking distance
Hilton Suites - NOT walking distance
Desert Inn and Suites - right across the street
Camalot - I think it has suites right across the street as well

One more thing to add: The onsite hotels all accommodate 5 people in a standard room (unlike WDW), plus almost all nearby hotels also can sleep 5. However with those ages, you may want a suite or adjoining rooms.
