While I know a lot of people are almost fanatical about room views, so much that they are willing to pay extra just to view a pool, at the RP, you might want to reconsider. I have never paid any attention to the view in the room because I feel I spend so little time there that its not worth to pay extra for something you're not using. Anyway when I checked in this past 8/1 and didn't ask for any particular room I was there at 9:00am and I just wanted to check and drop off my suitcase and continue on to SeaWorld. Well to my surprise (becuase from the looks at the checkin and the no. guests around I was sure they would tell me that my room wouldn' t be ready until 3:00, again that would've been fine but they had a room and it was ready!! I got a lagoon view which means the parking-lot and partial view of IOA. Well to my surprise I came back to the hotel one night and was getting ready for bed (I had been at SW all day) and I hear what I thought sounded like gun firing and as I looked out my window the fireworks for both parks are going off right in front of my room!!!! I was drinking my glass of wine and sat on the very comfy chair they have in the room and watched as the fireworks went on. I love fireworks and to be able to see them in this comfort was one of the highlights of my vacation! So think about it before you pay for and get those slightly higher paying room . . .

How was the rest of your stay at the royal pacific?
I am considering this resort for a trip in January. I have stayed at the hard rock several times and wanted to try something new. Any info would be appreciated.
:D

Did you enjoy your stay at the HRH? What kind of room did you have? thanks paula

We love the HRH! They have the most comfortable beds ever, with a soft fluffy down comforter! I have always just had a standard room, ive been on the 2nd, 4th and 6th floors. It doesnt matter what floor you are on, everything is very convenient. The pool is lots of fun with the music playing under the water at the pool and the slide is great. I love everything about this hotel, we just wanted to do something different next time.

Glad too hear that you enjoyed your stay. We have a trip planned for thanksgiving week. Went with the kids suite. kinda pricy but figured the privacy was worth the extra $. Have you stayed in one before. Just hope its worth the cost. thanks again for your quick response! paula

My stay at RP was wonderful! The room is somewhat smaller than at HRH (at least it looked like that to me) but the bathroom and vanity area seem the same size, very luxurious! The towels were plenty and very thick. But other than that the staff was very friendly and very helpful, and the hotel is really beautiful. I didn't eat at the restaurants since they seemed too expensive and I'd rather eat at CityWalk anyway because I was desperate for spanish food and the Latin Quarter fit my need. I never went into the pool because everytime I was back at the hotel it was raining, so I missed out on that but I did manage to get some beautiful pictures of it on the day I was leaving naturally it didn't rain! The walk from the hotel to the park seemed the same as from the HRH just a little more winding. The water taxi service is the same as at HRH. I actually used them more than walking which I did the opposite when I stayed at HRH. I had a king-size bed and while it was comfortable it wasn't like the ones at HRH. I liked this hotel but somehow I prefer HRH, I can't really put my finger on it but I just prefer HRH but with the rate I got at RP ($99 p/n) I would return there. I can say on the negative side was that they missed one day of maid service. The first night actually (I only stayed two nights) and since I was alone in my room it didn't bother me much but if I had company I would've called. And the scheduled busses to SeaWorld was a disaster! If you don't have a car you are literally captive of SW until you bus shows and there are only 3 scheduled a day and they service every hotel in the area, PB, HRH, RP, and about 5 others, they leave only 3 times a day and return only 3 times a day. I had a free day pass to SW I wanted to use but couldn't because I had to be at the airport by at least 3:30 and the bus wouldn't be picking up until 4:45! It really put a damper on my plans. I have become so used to coming back and forth b/w the hotels and the parks (Disney and the Univ. hotels) that I guess I just assumed the scheduled busses would be more available and was deeply dissapointed. I would definitely make other arrangements if you want to visit SW or WnW. HTH.

Thanks for all the information! I'm hoping to get a really great rate also........right now the price is 159......entertainment and AAA are not out for january. I think I'll give it a try, its always fun to stay different places.
:D
