With such a great abundance of rooms that Disney has on the property, I have always wondered how easy would it be to transfer from resort to resort. I have a reservation that involves stays a two different Resorts, and I need some input and/or advice (tricks of the trade) on what I need to know and/or do in order to make the smooth transition from Resort to Resort.

All you need to do is to pack your luggage and have bell services pick it up with the instructions that you are moving to XXXX resort. They will take care of everything for you. Just head out to a park, or to your new resort to check in. Your luggage will be moved by Disney and later that day call bell services from your new resort and they will deliver it to your room.
I don't think there are any "tricks" to know, but I'm sure others will add to this.

We did this back on our honeymoon in 1990. We spent 4 days at Caribbean Beach Resort and after that 4 at Grand Floridian. As the previous poster said, just call bell services and they'll take care of it for you. It was really that simple. We had a great time on that trip and got to sample 2 different types of resorts since neither of us had ever stayed on Disney property before. Since then, we've been back and stayed on site many times and have now belonged to DVC for almost 10 years. Did we get hooked on Disney resorts? Absolutely. ::MinnieMo

Its very easy. We move every trip and they make it so easy with not having to worry about moving your own luggage.

I was also wondering the same thing. We have a split stay coming up and depending solely on Disney transportation. I feel much better now. :flower:

Do you have to check out of the 1st one, and then back into the 2nd one, or is this "seemless" too?

TIA!

You still have to check in and out of each one.

When we went in January I couldn't decide between WL and AKL, so did a split stay. Disney makes it so easy. On the morning we were checking out of the WL we just called bell services and they came and got our luggage, they gave us a receipt for it, and told us it would be at the AKL by 3:00pm. We then caught a bus to AK, then AKL where it took just a few minutes to check in. Our room wasn't ready, but they gave us a room key and the number to call back later for our room number. We then went off to the parks. We called from the park for our room number and when we returned that night to the AKL we simply stopped by bell services to ask for our luggage to brought up. One of the bell hops said 'no probelm' and if we would wait just a minute he would be glad to walk us to our room. Within just a few minutes we were in our room, with our luggage, and alot of information about the AKL that he had given us.

I'm going back in three weeks and will be doing another split stay (POP x2nights, BWV x5nights, and then back to POP x2 nights). I'm going solo this trip, but have no concerns about switching resorts.

As long as you are prepared to be without your luggage until after 1PM.

We split a stay between BC and GF in December and last week. We had bell services move the luggage the first time and I wasn't prepared for our room to not be ready until 4:30PM. My DD's needed a nap and we had no place to go. They were pretty unapologetic about it. If they had just told me immediately it wouldn't be ready, I wouldn't have hung around the lobby checking in every 15 minutes. It blew the afternoon. I could have distracted them with a visit to the pool but we didn't have access to our luggage.

This last trip we moved ourselves since we had a rental car and I had a separate pool bag ready to keep in the car. Can you believe that the room was ready at 7:30AM?

Several of us have had our bags misplaced by WDW. Mine didn't show up until after 6:00pm, and then only after the BW manager got involved--the GF "lost" them, then found them in their baggage room and wanted US to go back over to get them.

At any rate, I'll spend the money to take my bags to the next hotel in a cab before I'll spend hours wondering which of 18 resorts they might have been left at...
