We are in a category 6 or at least I think it is.. We are on deck 6 delux stateroom confirmed with private verandah. I am still confused about how the categories work. Anyone want to explain?
How big are the rooms in regards to storage space. There will be four of us 3 adults and one 11 yr old boy. My mom is notorious for overpacking. She wants to take a different outfit for every day of the week. We are all first time cruisers and I am trying to convince her this rooms are not like hotel rooms at the Marriott. We will probably have one small suitcase for my son, a larger one for me, a garment bag plus whatever my mom brings for her and my dad either one large suitcase or two smaller ones. I am definitely concerned about storing all of this.
I don't want our stateroom hostess to think we are slobs. Also, do the staterooms have tub/shower combinations or do they all have showers?

;)

Clcik on this site. It will take you to a floor plan for the room you have described. You will have 268 sq ft of space filled with a bed, sofa/bed, table and storage devices. There is a good size closet, a storage chest and a dresser. You can also store suit cases under the bed.
We carried way too many clothes last year. You will be in a swim suit or shorts most of the time. A couple of dressy outfits for dinner and some excursion clothing and you will be set.
There is a tub/shower combo in one bath and a toilet in the other.
If space is going to be at a premium, try the vacuum storage bags (roll up type). We use those and they work great. Clothing, especially t-shirts and shorts can be flattened to half the space. They can also be used to store dirty clothes.
Have a great trip.:smooth:

ruvidu is right. You will stay in swimsuits most of the day. You do not need to bring a different outfit for everyday. Bring somethings you can mix and match. I ended up bringing over half of my clothes home never worn. There are also laundry rooms on board. DH did two loads of laundry early Thursday morning (he is the early bird in our family). The laundry rooms do get crowded late in the day.

There was more storage space than I had imagined but it the room is NOT as big as a hotel room.

We got ours at QVC but I saw a large display in Bed Bath and Beyond yesterday here in SC. They even had a garment bag size. We really like them.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer my questions. I will have to show these posts to my mom. The vacuum storage bags sound great I will try to find some.

Make sure you buy the travel type or you will need to find a vacuum on the ship in order to pack them to go home!

These are not my ideas. They were in this month's Southern Living Magazine.

Turn suit coats inside out when packing to prevent wrinkles. Turn them right side out and hang when you arrive. I will try this next time we travel.

A writer for the mag says she packs each days clothes in an individual plastic bag. She then puts the dirty clothes back in the bag and closes it up at the end of the day. She also says this helps when security goes through her bag at different terminals. It prevents the clothing from being messed up. I don't know if I am this organized.

ruvidu,

sounds a little too organized, but then you wouldnt have to worry about needing any plastic bags!:D
