We are planning to do in-room dining the first night we arrive at the Beach Club Villas, which won't be until about 9 pm. I know that this isn't usual, but is it possible to place our order for food at reception, or perhaps the Concierge desk, when we check in - rather than phoning once we get to our room? Also, we don't need cash for when the food is delivered, do we - I assume it goes on the room bill? But what about a tip?

Sorry for the truly daft questions, but I'm clueless!! :flower3: TIA

as long as you have a room number to send the food to, I guess it won't matter if you order in the room. Unless they question whether you will be in the room to recieve the food.

You can pay cash or room charge, either one. The tip and service charge are included in the total cost.

Just curious as to why you want to order from the lobby. :confused3 I don't think they will have a menu for you to order from except in the room.

Maybe they are concerned that at that late hour, they may be close to the end of the room service delivery time, so they want to get the order in. Or, maybe they want to cut down on the wait time, by placing the order before they go to the room and get settled.

Room Service is 24 hours at the BC/BCV. They will have the full room service menu until 1:00am, and then a limited menu from 1:00-6:00am, after which they start serving breakfast. So the OP doesn't have to worry that they will be ordering too late.

I've found room service at BC/BCV to be pretty quick. I don't think I've ever waited longer than 30 minutes for food to arrive. If you place the order as soon as you arrive in the room, by the time you get all your stuff organized and everyone has had a bathroom break, the food will probably be there.

I know it's a very odd way to order "room service", but there are a couple of reasons why it would be helpful, if we are able to do it. I also plan to print off the menu from Deb Wills site, so we can study it during our nine hour flight!

That's good to know!! :thumbsup2 Wait time will be an important factor by then! :teeth:

Thank you both for your help :goodvibes

I know they try hard to accommodate but would guess they want you to be actually in a villa before you place an order for the same reason deliveries aren't made ahead of time. Your villa assignment might change.

I second that it room service is quite timely. I wouldn't plan on ordering and then making a run to BC Marketplace or unloading the car, etc..

I didn't know that room service was 24/7 now. That's good news. When did it change back to that? It used to me 6-midnight I think.

There are phones in the lobby area where you can place your room service order after you have your room number (and don't plan to change locations after you are checked in).

Even without the 24 hour room service, ordering at 9:00 is not unusual anywhere. But especially at Disney World where many people forgo food trying to pack everything into a day. They get back after park closing and want something to eat.

And you can always ask the front desk person when you are checking in. They will be happy to help and as with just about anything at Disney World - just ask and you will probably be helped to your satisfaction.

But what if there is a mistake in the room assignment? Rare but it does happen. We checked in once only to find our guaranteed wheelchair accessible villa wasn't accessible at all.

I can see some poor room service person wandering the halls looking for Bexx.:goodvibes

But let us know what happens, Bexx, if you do try it.

That's very useful to know :goodvibes

:rotfl: As we are only there for two nights I haven't made any requests, so we should be fine unless somebody forgets to do the cleaning!!!

If I do try, I'll certainly let you know ::yes::

Again, thank you all for your help :flower3:

I tried to do this at WL on our last trip. They would not let me order at the restaurant and then deliver; I had to call down and order. Yes, I was just trying to save time. That said, it was a wonderful meal and well worth it.
