We stayed @ AKL Sept 2004. We were on the Arusha Savannah Giraffe Trail. Our room 3505 (I think), this was off the main lobby and when we took the elevator down to ground we were right at the laundry, pool and easy acess to Mara. I think this was a good location. Good Luck!

DH, DS & I stayed in KUDU Trail in July 02 and it was great. We were lucky and got an upgrade from standard view and were VERY happy with the room and the views.

We have stayed on the Kudu trail twice and have had great views both times. One time in a standard savannah and one time in a deluxe savannah. BTW my 4 year old thinks every hotel should be brown and have giraffes! We will be there again in July too!

Just keep in mind that it is only a request and you will do fine. Many people love AKL.
