Hi Everyone,

I'm planning a trip at the end of August with a couple of my friends. The total number of us is 4 but we're all guys (myself, 2 brothers and a son of one of the brothers) Now my one friend doesn't mind sharing a bed with his son, but the other friend and myself prefer to sleep in our own beds. With budget in mind does anyone have any suggestions as to what's the best on property room to reserve? I'm curious about Pop Century, but I don't believe they offer a roll away bed, I know about daybeds in some of the deluxes, but they're too pricey for this trip. We would really like to stay in the moderates or lower, anyways, any suggestions is most apreciated as my brain is mush right now from looking into different options....

You might try looking into Carribean Beach. A couple of years ago when I stayed there I was able to get a rollaway (cot), but it was about 15.00 extra per night.

I have a similar situation because I bring my mom with us. I end up sleeping with one of my sons and my other son (16) does not want to sleep with my mom.

Another option would be to bring a twin size air mattress. I now bring that for my son and it works out great.

You might try one of these, as some of the rooms have bunk beds, and are not much more expensive than moderates. Also, PO has a trundle bed available.

POR has a trundle bed in Aligator Bayou section however I have heard it is big enough for anyone under 9 to 12 yrs old depending on build and sleeping habits! You may need to do 2 rooms at value if you do not want to do deluxe however the Wing rooms at the CR are a bit lower than some others and are much bigger than WL or AKL (which do have bunk beds but not guaranteed request I do not think)...if you had a wing room at CR the price for rack is about 244 I think, not bad split in half or thirds...

At POR, the trundle bed in Alligator Bayou might be an option. We went in 2002. It was my parents, my DD (then almost 3), myself and my brother (24 then). He actually used the Trundle bed all but one night without much discomfort. LOL I used it the one night but preferred the bed. So, you never know. It might work for someone in your party. Rebecca

I've stayed at POR. My Dh (who was my boyfriend at the time) was going to sleep on the trundle bed, me in one of the regular beds, and my parents in the other regular bed. My DH is 6'1 and medium built. That was no way he would fit on that trundle bed. He laid down on it and his feet were hang off. It was so funny. So I ended up sleeping on it. I'm 5'1 and petite and I barely fit on that thing. And it's not very comfortable at all.

I would do either two value resort rooms or go buy an aerobed. I would think that aerobed would be your best option. Just take turns sleeping on it.

YOu might want to consider staying at one of the cabins in Fort Wilderness. I think they are around $230 so that is a little more than getting two rooms at a value resort. But the cabins have a full bed, bunk beds, and a full bed that comes out of the wall that is very comfy. You also would have the benefit of a full kitchen and a grill if you didn't want to eat out the whole time. Just a thought.

We've done the air mattress on the floor for my daughter's boyfriend in a room at POFQ, and it worked fine - we're planning on the same for our October trip. I wouldn't try it at a value though - less floor space, and I don't believe there would be enough room for it.

By the way, as we were coming back to the room for our first night on the trip when we used the air mattress, we were joking that they probably made it up like a bed. Lo and behold, they really did! They put sheets and a blanket and extra pillows on it, and they made it up every day, just like the regular beds

Ditto for the aerobed - we use one for my daughter (6yo) which is "toddler size" but a twin one would be a good option. They are only about $100 and come with a carry case - just bring it as a carry on on the airplane.

I think I saw some twin size air mattresses at Target for as low as $20-$25, some even included the pump.

We are planning on bringing an aero-bed when we go in November. I was thinking of using a suitcase to carry it, but that sounds like a great idea to carry it on the air plane. Has anyone done that?
