hi guys! im in a quandry here. hoping someone can help on here! our dd has cp- she wears an eye patch full time for lazy eye and has trouble walking long distances. were looking at staying at one of the value resors this fall. i asked my ta about a closer room for her benefit. i just want to be closer to the buses without her having a meltdown before we even get to the parks! our ta suggested us paying extra for the preferred rooms. personally i dont agree with that, i mean shes not in a wheelchair, but this is considered medical. also we stayed in a preferred room in 05 and what a freaking disatster! we were in one of the fantasia buildings at movies but it was still a long long walk to anything! any advice?

They do not take specific room requests. IF you want you can have the travel agent contact Disney's special needs room line and tell them to put on the reservation that you want a room near the lobby.

Music map which requires walking to the lobby and then out front.

Those are the maps. Acording to Google maps it is at least 500 feet from any room in the resorts to the bus stop except Music which is about 350 feet if you walk straight through the lobby. Those are extimates only. All rooms are first come first served. They will try to get guests what they want but cannot promise to do so.

I storngly suggest getting her a wheelchair or ECV if she is 18+ as it is a lto of walking. Just to the buses is two blocks round trip and the walking in the parks can be 3 to 10 miles a day depending on the guest.

thanks for the info!!! i knew they didnt take specific rooms requests but was hoping there was something for people that are special needs or have them. i didnt know they had a sp. needs room line! ill have to discuss this further with my ta. she'll be four and we'll be renting from orlando stroller rentals, that way we can have it at our resort.

That is the page but your travel agent owns the reservation so it has to do the requesting. Ask for a room near the bus stop due to medical needs.

That is the thread talking about special room services. They handle everything a disabled guest needs where as the resort only handles blocking a space on the calendar for your trip. The resort and the main reservations people have nothing to do with getting rubber sheets, bed rails, and special cleaning.

Your sig line shows that your daughter is 3 years old, your son is 2 - surely you would have a stroller for them? Or are you just planning on renting one at the parks? I'd like to recommend that you bring your own, as walking to the bus stops from the parks is a long way too, even if you do get your request for a room close to a bus stop.

yes we have umbrella strollers but shed rather be out and carried. we will be getting a stroller from orlando stroller rentals as i explained above, that way we can have it with us at the resort. but i know a battle will loom first thing in the morning! im hoping if we have a closer room to the bus stop it will cut down on one meltdown, shes very stubborn and loud if she doesnt get her way! i know she will not want to be in it for five minutes to transport her to the stop, then want out then fight with her to get her back in it once we get to our park for the day.

She will have to learn that she cannot always get her way. When she is 19 and cannot have a certain thing what will happen? Stubbornness is good in some ways but she needs to learn that you are the boss and that there are reasons for your actions.

She is being a normal kid who is demanding her way. Try choices also like "You ride in the stroller to the bus stop and we ride your favourite ride or you walk and we do not ride your favourite ride." The experts can help you on this matter

oh she knows! mommy is the disicplinarian- daddys too easy- trust me today was a horrific day for this!!! lol she does not get away with murder around me. but i also know what her temper tantrusm are like, and they drag on and on. weve tried it all- choices, time outs(altho i dont think thatll work at disney! lol) . but i also know with the depth perception, long distanaces and any kind of different terrain or elevation are hard for her. her little bro can run circles around her and he has since he was 9 months!

As far as the values go, we found Pop Century to be very nice. It's a big place, but it's laid out in such a way that many of the buildings are close to the main hall and the bus stops. The only problem we had was that the food court was super crowded at peak meal times, so DD had a problem getting around in her wheelchair. We just went to breakfast early after that.

thanks mary! were hoping for pop but are waiting til i get back some test results before we book. so we may have to go with an asr. i think were skipping the value resorts breakys and just ordering some food from the grocery delivery services down there.
