I have a question.....I've read about calling a few days before your arrival to put in a room request. I know the travel agent put a request on the booking so should I also call or just ask at check in?

If the requests are on your reservation, there's no need to call. You can confirm your requests at check-in.

My TA put my request on my reservation, but she also called one week prior to our arrival to confirm that the request was, in fact, on the reservation...it was. When we arrived at check-in I asked if they were able to meet the request (to make sure it was really there) and sure enough we what we wanted.

What if I haven't made any request so far (I don't have a TA) and just through reading here, I've figured out where I want to be. Can I still call and request. We leave next week...

I would give it a try, you've got nothing to lose.

Sure, you can still call.

You can also discuss your requests with the CM who's checking you in. In some cases, the room is assigned at that time, and you can remind your CM of your requests as they are selecting a room for you.

Even if the room was pre-assigned, if the location isn't what you wanted, you can certainly ask that they find you a different room. Depending on how full the resort is, they may not be able to accommodate you, but it's always worth asking.

Requests are also noted on your confirmation and when I make a reservation online for a client through Disney's booking engine there is a field to notate reqeusts that prints out also.

I make our family's arrangements every year through Disney.com and we leave for Pop on Saturday. Yesterday, I called the hotel directly and gave them my requests for ground floor, side by side rooms. We paid for the preferred locations and the lady on the phone was very accomodating and put everything in the computer for me. So come Saturday, we shall see if it worked. Usually every trip, we just happen to have a good location, except for last year we were at CBR and that was a little confusing for us.
