Room requests

What is the best way to make a room request? I have a reservation booked with OKW for Sep 6th- 12th, and would like to request to be in a 2 bedroom with a balcony and with a water view. Should I call the reservation line, OKW directly, or fax to OKW?

The best way to make a request is to make it with CRO on your initial reservation. You can call and add requests to this reservation at any time. The reservations are downloaded to the resort about 5 days before check-in. The Room Assigner will look at your requests and try to meet them. List them in the order of importance to you. Thing thing you want most first etc. It is better to make your requests more general than too specific. For example higher floor, not room 3325. If Disney can understand what you are wishing for, they do try to meet those requests.

OK, but who do I call now to add the request?

You call the same people you called to make the reservation.

• If you're a DVC member and booked OKW on points, call DVC Member Services.
  
• If you rented a reservation through a DVC member, they will have to call Member Services and add your request for you.
  
• If you booked a cash reservation through WDW's website or by calling WDW's reservation line (CRO), call the reservation line.
  
• If you booked through a travel agent or AAA, they will have to add the request for you.

Okay, the only way you can be in a two-bedroom unit is if that's what you reserved (or if you're really lucky and get pixie-dusted), so that's not a request.
All OKW units have balconies, even the first floor - although those are technically enclosed (with a railing, just like all the others) patio.
So, really, your only request is "water view". Contact whoever you made the reservation with as advised above. If your reservation is a Disney-arranged upgrade from Pop Century or AKL, for example, you would still contact CRO - the number you used for the original reservation.

I have asked ahead of time making our reservations each time at OKW and when we get there I have to go through it all again because they say "Nothing states your requests" EVERY time. Then we stand there until- oh look something is available! They play the game too! It is very frustrating. But I know I should just be happy with what we get but paying cash isn't cheap so I have only one request and that is Peninsular Rd area and it is always a battle.

as a large advocate of faxes, i'm pretty sure DVC resorts flat out don't accept them? am i wrong?

You're correct, DVC resorts do not accept faxes. They put out a statement to members a few years back, saying that faxes would be discarded.

after posting that, i even got to thinking.. i wasn't sure they even take any requests at all, mostly due to the occupancy rate consistently being so high. just like how they won't honor late checkout requests (for related reasons).

i'm just not a dvc person though

DVC does take requests; I've made requests at the time of booking for every DVC reservation I've had, and I've always gotten what I've asked for. You can also discuss your requests with the front desk, have them look for a different room that suits your needs better, etc.

In short, it works the same way as non-DVC reservations; the only difference is that you're giving your requests to MS instead of CRO.
