Room requests through an Expedia booking

We have a garden view King bed room booked for a week in July. My travel companion is a huge Civil War history buff and I know he'd really enjoy staying in the Magnolia Bend section. As I understand from Andre's super-helpful FAQ thread and website, King bed, Garden View rooms are available in both AB and Magnolia Bend.

I would like to place a request to be put in the Magnolia Bend section, but since I booked through Expedia I'm not quite sure how to go about this. I only have an Expedia confirmation number. Anyone have any advice or done this before? Thanks!

I have heard if you book thru a TA, you can not phone WDW with your requests, it has to go thru the TA. So can you contact Expedia and ask them to send in your room request?
I think closer to check in- like maybe 2 weeks? your TA will send you the WDW conf. # along with a link for online check in. Maybe you could phone in your requests at that time if Expedia won't do it now.

I booked a room through Expedia in the past and on my confirmation it had the Expedia # and the Disney #. I used it for online check-in or dining reservations, can't remember which. But those were automated things - not where I had to call and speak to anyone.

But I think Sue is correct in that Disney won't speak to you about it - for requests or anything because you are booked through a TA - and you would have to try and get Expedia to do that for you. I'm cynical that that would happen.
