Hey all, me again - being a pest with my "can't wait to go" questions

Now, I don't know if this topic is taboo or not....I haven't visited the boards much since my last trip, but at the time it was debated over the effectiveness or appropriateness of faxing room requests a few days before check-in.

Has there been any further discussion on this topic? What is the latest view on faxing requests and the effectiveness of doing so?

I'm heading to the Coronado for my son's 16th, and he is hoping we'll get the Casitas. I'm wondering if it would be a mistake to try a room request again since I had such good luck in the past. On the other hand I don't want to do something that is recently frowned upon by the resorts.

Thanks .... any advice would be appreciated!!!

Sue

The latest threads on this subject are saying that the faxed requests are not being addressed. If you have requests, you should have them noted on your reservation.

Thanks for the head's up...

I was asking the same question earlier. I decided to call POFQ and make sure my origninal requests were still with my reservation. The CM was very helpful, looked up the res and assured me the requests were in place. The call didn't seem to cause anything negative and provided us with a little assurance.

My AAA TA was told by a CM to call him 5 days in advance to make a special request...I don't know if this is particular to TA's, and whether they have particular CM's they consistently deal with (I suspect this is the case, as she always asks for a particular CM when I'm with her).

My CAA TA put in our request when we made our reservations. There was no mention of calling 5 days prior.

Nope, didn't think TA's did have an advantage...that wouldn't be fair, would it? But just passing on a conversation between MY TA and a CM who shall remain nameless (I have their correspondence in print, so I'm not making this up).

I didn't make a request when making my reservation. I called ASMo on Friday to ask what the procedure was for making a request, and the lady said that they don't get reservation information until 3 or 4 days before the arrival date, so to call back then and they would transfer me to the front desk to make a request. Don't know if this is true, that's just what I was told. I may call back in a couple of days to confirm this.................

They will most likely transfer you to a call center. They may answer as the front desk of your resort but they won't be there. You can do just as well by making sure your requests are in your reservation. You can do that at any time.

actually, they'll transfer the caller to CRO, and it will be updated on their reservation. Unfortunately calling the resort does not help. Their hands are pretty much tied when it comes to putting in the information unless you're right in front of them. Just call cro and make the request. But please keep in mind to K.I.S.S the fewer requests you make the more likely the resort is to make accomodations. If you ask too much, you might not get anything.

For what it is worth -- We have stayed at the CSR several times, at all times of the year, and we like staying in the Casitas also. #3 to be exact.
Our requests have been for non-smoking and Casitas #3. Everytime we have requested this we have gotten them. I have either made these requests at the time of resv. or called weeks out. It never seemed to be an issue with getting the Casitas when requested. I think it's harder to get the Cabana 9's.

Hi,

Travel agents who book a lot of Disney attend on-site training at Disneyland, Disney World and Disney Cruise Line and get to know CMs through those seminars. They also have District Sales Managers and Inside Sales Repswho get to know them through the course of working through problems and other situations with reservations.

Best Regards,
Julia
