So I have two reservations. One night at Pop made by a travel agent and 5 nights at AKL through David’s vacation rental.

For Pop, the travel agent called in my requests. I attempted to put in the same requests (70s, highest floor) through MDE and it got stuck on blank as the first choice and 60s as the second choice. I’ve tried changing it to anything else and it’s just stuck on that. When I try to call about it they just tell me to contact my travel agent but she already put in the requests that I wanted. I’m worried my stuck request on MDE will override her request somehow. I was going to use touringplans fax request to fax in the same request that my travel agent made. Is there anything else I should do? Is there anyway to contact pop directly?

For the DVC rental, the owner put in my room requests. I left it blank in my MDE. I’m sending in a touring plans request. Is there anything more I can do. Anyone I can call, maybe contact AKL directly?

Nothing else to do for the DVC rental. Once I had the reservation number for the DVC I was able to make the room request myself at BWV. Requested close to lobby and got it.

Since your TA is the only one who can handle requests, I'd call her and have her contact Disney to see if they can clear things up regarding what's noted vs MDE. As far as contacting the resorts directly, that is not possible. When you call a phone number associated with a resort, your call is routed to a call center. They answer as if they are at that particular resort, but it's actually a call center and not the resort itself.

You can't do a single thing at AKL because it's DVC. The owner has to do it all. I don't think they will even pay attention Touring Plans request, because you are not the owner. We rent from David's all the time. Sometimes we get our request and sometimes we don't just like when I reservation thru Disney. I hope you have good luck!

It’s not “ stuck”. That is the way it works. You can not change it in MDE once it is made. Also calling Disney is a waste or your time and theirs. You do not own the reservation the TA does and Disney will not speak with you.
You sound very focused and intense about your requests. Please recognize that they are only requests and there is a very good likelihood they can not be met. I don’t want you to be disappointed. DVC Villas have extremely high occupancy rates. It is very difficult to meet requests there. I own at BCV and have Never gotten my requests. But I am happy despite that
Good Luck

With the DVC portion, if you get anywhere close to any request you make it is simply by a stroke of luck. You WILL be placed in whatever you reserved (standard view, savanna view, etc), as upgrades are only given due to maintenance issues or availability issues. We have been DVC members for several years, and we've only gotten an upgrade once, and it was for a one night stay.

If you're at Jambo, you'll be guaranteed to be on the 5th floor (unless you rented club level, in which case you'll be on the 6th floor). Standard views are *mostly* pool views, although a small few have limited savanna views.

If you're at Kidani, standard view will be on the "back" of the buildings facing the parking lot.

I’m not expecting an upgrade in the least. My only room request that I’m trying to do everything I can to guarantee is to try to get the quietest possible room in the resort in my category. I figured with AKL the further away from the lobby the better.

Are you at Kidani or Jambo, and what view have you booked? At Jambo, you'll likely be fairly close to the lobby if you're standard view. With Kidani, you can be a LONG way from the lobby. We've never had any problems with noise at AKL.

We’re abt Jambo. I think on touring plans I saw some pool rooms pretty far away so one of those might work for us. We have a toddler we’ll be bringing back for afternoon naps and early bedtime.

When I did online check in for a DVC rental I was able to make requests as I mentioned above. Did not need the owner to do it for me.

Here's a map of Jambo. The yellow highlighted portion is standard view rooms section. Someone will invariably come along and state that they weren't in that section. Just note that there are always exceptions, but THESE ARE THE STANDARD VIEW ROOMS. And again...we've never had a problem with noise at Jambo.

All WDW resorts give some very basic online check-in options...DVC included.

All resorts, including DVC, do have a few very basic room requests you can select when you check in, although "quiet room" is not one of them.

For anything more detailed, you need to call. Calling the resorts directly won't help. Faxing about a DVC room location won't help. I don't know about Pop.

For the Pop reservation, because you used a travel agent, the travel agent has to call. Have her call and check the requests they have on file for you.
For the DVC reservation, the broker has to get the owner to call. DVC Member Services won't talk to anybody who isn't the member.

also, you can't guarantee anything about room location. These are requests only. Sometimes they can be accommodated, sometimes they can't. Also the more detailed the request, the less likelihood that it can be accommodated.

Just keep in mind that depending on which room you may have a connecting door to another room, in my experience the noise coming from that room can be significantly worse than anything that occurs in the hallway, so putting all this effort into a quiet location can be completely undone by noisy neighbors.

Can I please add a question here? Does MDE have an option for "first available room."

We land at 8:25 am and are staying at POFQ. DD and I plan on hitting MK when we arrive but want to come back for a nap midday. I know check in is at 3 or 4 but we might be back earlier than that. I know it's not guaranteed to get a room earlier than that but we would like to give ourselves the best chance.

Yes. We take a redeye from CA, so we always arrive quite early and usually select this option. In MDE you have to go to the room requests and actually select a request in order for the box to show up that has the option for first available.

Good point. There are 14 DEDICATED studio lockoff standard views at Jambo, and 34 LOCKOFF standard views. Only 29% of the DVC standard rooms are dedicated studios at Jambo.

Again though...I would say that the chance of your child's afternoon nap being interrupted by other guests is much lower than it getting interrupted by Disney's new room checks. Most people will be at the parks in the afternoons. Late night arrivals from the parks and Disney Springs will be your bigger challenge.

If your TA and the DVC owner have already had requests added to your reservations, that is all you can do. Just hope for the best from this point. Whatever you do in MDE won't override anything, its all just notations. Even if your room requests lit up the CM's computer screen with strobe lights and dance music, its entirely possible they can still be overlooked or not able to be granted due to circumstances at the resort.
