Hi, we will be arriving at the Poly from the DCL at around 9.30am - I would ideally like a balcony (ie 3rd floor) but am not bothered about location. Will it be too late to ask when I arrive?? Do the rooms get allocated before the day of arrival??:confused3

thanks alot!!:thumbsup2

I'm not sure when rooms get chosen, but I do remember if you have special requests for rooms that you're supposed to do it 2 weeks before arrival.

You can call up the reservation line and request a balcony room, and they will add that request to your reservation.

When you get to the resort, mention your request, just to be safe. They will generally try to do whatever they can to get your request, but it all depends on how busy the resort is. If I remember correctly, all the 3rd floor rooms and about half of the 2nd floor rooms at the Poly have a balcony, so it should be a fairly easy request to get!

have a great trip!

Just got back, and we got moved to a room with a King bed without even asking. It was great, much nicer then a full. So, you never know.

Have never stayed at the Poly but when we stayed at POR a few years ago, they had us at AB and I wanted to be in the Mansions (which I had requested in advance by fax), so they took care of things right there at check in.

Last January when we were at OKW I had requested a room near the hospitality house and we got it. But I noted that we had already been assigned a room somewhat further back and when the lady at the front desk saw my request she changed it herself. I did not notice that until a day or two into the vacation when I looked at our check in slip and saw the old room number crossed off and the requested room written in pen which I saw her do but didn't realize what she was doing.

I had made the request when I made the ressies a few months before so I guess no one paid attention. I was sure thankful for our check in girl!

We called in a request the day of check-in before we arrived at the resort. We requested to be in Samoa, and they placed us on the third floor of Samoa with a quiet pool view. This was in January, so it may have been a different story during a busier timeframe.

Call now and request what you want. Rooms are assigned three or four days before you get there. Requests are never guaranteed but they do their best to meet them. But it does depend on how full the resort is and what is available. It will help that your only request is for a balcony room. When requesting anything with a room, less is better.

You can ask for a different room if your request is not met. However, it might not be possible depending on what is available.

1) At check-in you seldom have to take the room assigned.
2) If you want something, ask for it at check-in.
3) In most cases, they can bump someone and you get the room.
4) If too late in the day, you can usually be moved the next day.

NOTE: It is little known that people frequently ask for rooms at check-in and can get those requests. Even when all the rooms are assigned, CM's can usually trade or bump you into a room that satisfies you. (Sometimes to the chagrin of another person who checks-in later only to find they didn't get their requests.)

I find that no matter when I check-in, my requests were never looked at. A couple of times at check-in I asked for a certain area, and got it then by begging nicely. I never once had requests granted ahead of time. It doesn't matter if I check in early or late, or busy season or empty. I just don't get requests. :confused3 I think alot has to do with the fact I travel solo (low priority, no kids to drag around) and I am at the end of the alphabet (computer has to assign rooms in some order) - well, that's my theory!

thanks everyone - I hope (fingers crossed) that by getting there first thing in the morning they may just give us a balcony if I ask (we have 2 small children with us and thought we could 'escape' to the balcony while they are trying to get to sleep - otherwise we'll have to camp out in the bathroom!!:rotfl: )

I would like to ring through to reservations, but not sure if I can as I have booked through a UK agent??:confused3 Does anyone know of the number I'd ring to ask the poly to note my request??:confused3

thanks ever so much!!:lovestruc :lovestruc
