Room Requests...How Often Do You Get Them?

I am wondering if it is a good idea to request a specific room or building. How often does Disney honor your request? I know they make no guarantees, but is it worth it? Does faxing your request a few days early matter?

i have gone to wdw many, many times and only once did not get my requests and that was at wl...i don't think faxing gives you any advantage i have always just had cro make a note of my requests when i make my reservation....i also think you have a better chance of making general requests such as bulding, floor and view as oppossed to requesting a specific room...my friend tried to request a specific room once and not only did the cm seem a little irritated by it but she was also not placed anywhere near the room that was requested but i guess it all depends on what cm you get and what type of mood they are in.

I wouldn't bother with faxing, most of the resorts ignore them now because so many were doing it.

Just make sure your requests are in your reservation. When you get there you can always ask for any requests.

I think that Disney tries very hard to honor general requests. I would simply note them on your ressie with CRO, and when you arrive to check in, maybe mention them again. I would list them in order of importance.

I have always received all of my requests (view, bed size) and I always send my requests by fax, not CRO. This has worked for me at AKL and the Yacht Club. Good luck!

We stayed at the Beach Club in June. I sent in a fax with five requests in order of importance. We got all of them.

My luck has been about 50/50. I think alot depends on the day you check-in, if they have alot of checkouts that day they will have more rooms available to choose from to try to meet your request. Or how full the resort is in general.

I would not request a specific room. You only have a chance of getting that room if it is empty the day you check-in. If not, they have no idea why you wanted it and will put you anywhere. For example, in April I stayed at BWV and we requested rooms 3123 or 4123, I had stayed in 3123 last December and it was an extra large room. This room is the corner room near the pond and parking lot (we had a standard view DVC reservation). We ended up in 3002, which is way down on the end near Jellyrolls.

We just came back..stayed at BC and poly....did not get any at BC and got them all at the poly.... we did check in early morning at poly...and about 2:30 in afternoon at BC....maybe that was the difference....amy:rolleyes:

I personally wouldn't bother with the fax...don't think it will help much. I would request what you want at the time of making your ressie. If it's really a big deal to you (to be near another party's room or non-smoking), make sure you re-iterate it when you check in. Otherwise, I would say most of our requests have been sort of touch and go...like another poster said, maybe 50/50...

We have been fortunate to have gotten our requests all of our visits. It is always noted on our reservation and we ask again at check in. :)

We could have gotten our requests this past April at the Poly if we had been willing to wait to check into our room. Since we flew all night from Seattle, we were pretty tired so decided to take a longhouse where the room was ready. The CM gave us a choice - room now or room per our original request but with a several hour wait. IAnd this was the day before Easter, one of the busiest times at WDW.

It all worked out as the room we had was quiet, just what we wanted, and we were able to shower and take a nap just after 9AM when we checked in.

We have always gotten our requests. The one time we didn't, they switched our rooms a day later and that was fine with us.

Usually. But the times we didn't the room we got was fine. :)

We were there a month ago. We checked into the Beach Club at 7:00 on Saturday evening and didn't get any of our requests(it was even a smoking room which was definitely not good for us). However, they had a room that fit all of our requests the next day and we changed then.

We then went to POR and I sent my husband over early in the morning. I think he got there around 8:30 or 9:00 am and we got all of our requests.

I think getting there as early as possible will help your chances because you have a larger pool of rooms to choose from.

I'm hoping that's true because we will be checking into POR between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning!

We have always gotten our requests, though I've never requested a certain room. I've never faxed my request either. When making my reservation I will request non-smoking and then the building and maybe floor too. We usually check in between 1:00pm and 4:00 pm. Disney has been very good to us regarding this. Once I even requested two rooms next to each other and that was honored too.

I always request only 2 things - non smoking room & king size bed. We always have received a non smoking room but never a king size bed.

We are going to AKL next week. I am hoping to check in around 10:00 AM (I don't plan on actually getting into the room at that time) and hope to ask for a pool view deluxe (have a std pool view right now). I am hoping that they will have lots of choices that early in the morning.
