Room request

We will be closing on our purchase of 285 points at VWL this week. We are planning a trip in May. I know we will probably not be able to get our home resort, but we are hoping to get a two bedroom at OKW. My question is how are they on room request as far as hadicapped people? My mom will be traveling with us and she has severe arthritis. There is no way she can do stairs. What do you think my chances are of getting the first floor?

I don't know about the first floor at OKW but I think you still might be able to get all, or at least part of your trip at VWL or one of the other DVC resorts besides OKW. If you are clsoing this week you will still be six months out. You should at least wait list for other places if they are want really want and you can't get into them right away.

I've requested first floor non-handicapped the past 2 Mays at OKW and got it. May is a quiet time at OKW. Do you need a handicapped accessable room? Walk-in shower? I would put "medical reasons" on your request, it will get priority.

The handicapped rooms can be reserved directly and therefore guaranteed if available when you reserve.

Be sure you state handicaped accessible for medical reasons when you make your ressie, and I am sure you will be accommodated. I also think VWL is not out of the question yet either.

Congratulations! VWL is our home, too, but we're staying at OKW next month because we enjoy it so much.

I agree that VWL may not be out of the question. May is a great month. It's a small resort and the villas are close to the bus stop, which would be convenient for your Mom. Request 'close to elevator' to decrease walking for her.

Not that you wouldn't really, really like OKW. It's very pretty and spacious. In addition to 1st floor, you could request a room close to a bus stop, unless you have a car and plan to drive most places. In that case, the convenience of a car right outside your door at OKW is priceless.

PS. A few OKW buildings have elevators, so you wouldn't have to have 1st floor if there.
