Room Request

I have a reservation at BLT. I will be solo and have never been to this resort before. I'm feeling a bit nervous being alone.

I would like to request a room that is not out of the way or far off and isolated. I know I don't want the ground floor. I was thinking of asking for something on the fourth floor near the skybridge. Any thoughts or feedback?

As far as 'close' goes, everyone except for ground floor or skybridge level has to ride the elevator. It isn't that long a walk from any room. Roll the dice and see what you get! :)

Are you renting DVC points? What kind of room have you reserved? Studio lake-view for example.
I think asking for near the skybridge would be fine. I hope you enjoy your trip.
I had a standard view studio in Dec. It was almost directly over the entrance, and quite close to the bridge, so people could see into my room, and I could see and hear then quite well too. room 7328, 3rd floor. But I had a great view of the MK fireworks! I could sit out on the balcony, or inside the room on the corner of the couch closest to the window and see them. That was very cool and unexpected. The rooms facing the monorail are larger than the rooms facing the lake. There are no sheers for the window, so be prepared for a lack of privacy.
How long are you staying? It feels like you are on the Starship Enterprise with the curved hallways when you get off the elevator and walk to your room.

I did rent dvc points for 5 nights, Lakeview. Not excited by the idea of lack of privacy.

If it was me, I'd ask for a room by the elevator. This takes care of the privacy issue.

I'd also google Bay Lake Tower room map. I can't remember offhand the website but I used them in September while trying to decide what to request while at AKL and noticed they had other resort maps too.

Disney is safe. Try not to concern yourself too much so that it could spoil your trip. You still need to exercise caution, but, that would be common sense things and nothing to do with room locations. Just carry a small personal alarm, there are always plenty of people around, even in the middle of the night. I've genuinely never felt threatened at Disney and I've strolled back to my room at nearly 3am. Just keep your wits around you and stay in well lit areas after dark.

BLT is my home resort and I have spent numerous solo trips at that resort and I've always felt safe. However if you wish to request for a particular location you can but there is no guarantee you're going to receive it. As far as security for BLT I know it's the only resort building dedicated to DVC owners unlike other resorts which are mixed. Also I do recall that you need to have a valid room key at BLT to enter from the bridge to the building when crossing from the Contemporary to BLT unless that feature was disabled. In any event Disney is safe for the most part but as the previous poster mentioned it's still good to exercise caution but don't let that spoil your trip.

Loving BLT. I usually stay at Poly but I'm enjoying the change. It's easy to see that each resort has it's benefits. I thought I would take advantage of the walkway to mk but my feet are covered in blisters. Not fun.

Has this occurred recently, or has it always been that way? I've on more than one occasion has walked the bridge and gotten into the BLT to walk through the halls and look through the elevator area windows to get a better view of the park.

Addressing this might not ease the mind on the security case. However, I was just curious if this was new addition since I've been there (been a year), or that it's something that was believed to always function, but isn't. However, if it is something that has always been active, it might only occur during certain hours. As I know with a lot of hotels who have entry points with keys that a lot of them are inactive during the day, but after a certain hour in the evening you'll have to enter using a key.

That being said, all in all, Disney is an exceptional safe place to me, which is why I prefer to either stay on property, or as close to property as possible when staying overnight in Orlando.

I haven't stayed at BLT in a few years (I've been staying at other deluxe resorts) so Disney may have opened up the doors at the BLT bridge but I don't understand why they would. In any event, the numerous times I've stayed there in the past it was always locked regardless of the time of day because that building and the pool is only for DVC BLT occupants.

Well, technically anyone can stay at BLT for a hefty price, just like any DVC hotel now, even if you do not rent DVC points. Might be the reason why, but even then I don't think that's it, because then they can just make it only Magic Band accessible. Also, I do not know about the pool area as I didn't go there, but all of the pools now are Magic Band access and for each hotel it's only accessed if they're staying on that hotel. You can't pool hop to others.

Disney is very safe I have stayed at the all-stars for a week by my self ( I am a young female and under 5'2 so on the short side) I did one night at BLT and was fine was fine walking back to my room across all-stars at 1 am- 2 AM with no one around. now I would not walk around late at night waving a hand full of 100 dollar bills with a handful of pricey items you bought at Disney. Be smart walk to your room close the door and lock it behind you

From what I've heard, you should be able to request specific room locations and they will do the best they can to accommodate. Worst they can do is not have your exact preference available.

Yep, when you do early check in, you can do request specific room locations. The best course of action is to do early check in as early as they allow on the app. Not only you list your preferences, but also what time you might show up. Also, they even give you the option to state whether checking in earlier is more important, or waiting a little longer to potentially get your room preferences. If they do not have your preferences listed (normally it's just, "near elevator, bottom floor, pool view, ect"), you can call and speak to a CM about your references and make a note.
