Room request?

Just waiting to close on our first DVC purchase so not 100% on booking for the future etc. Can I please ask if DVC members get priority on room requests or do we just get the same questions as normal check in ie. floor and location?

Using the online check-in tool, I think the options available for DVC reservations are pretty much the same as those for cash reservations. However, a difference for DVC members is that we can call Member Services in advance and give them our preferences over the phone. These can be more-detailed than what the online check-in allows, and you're not limited to picking just a few.

For example, my preferences for a recent stay at SSR were:

Paddock Section
Near the Pool
High Floor
Even-numbered room
Not a handicap accessible room

No idea why and even numbered road. But the non-handicap room is probably because they want a tub and not a roll in shower, raised commode or less storage storage space/counter area. Most HA units have less counter space to allow for wheelchair turning radius. Most HA studios will have a roll in shower and no tub.

At SSR, the even number rooms face the front of the buildings and the odd numbered rooms are on the sides. We enjoy the views better in the even numbered rooms, which tend to look directly out at the water features.

We also prefer a room with a tub, and don't really like the roll-in showers. We usually stay in studios, so when we do splurge for a larger villa, one of the things I look forward to is the jacuzzi. I started adding this request automatically to every booking after we got a HA tree house one year that didn't have a jacuzzi.

FYI - if you want a room change after you enter the room because you don't like the view, you will have to pay for a full cleaning:

•Full Cleaning Service for Deluxe Studio - $30 per day requested
•Full Cleaning Service for 1-Bedroom Villa - $45 per day requested
•Full Cleaning Service for 2-Bedroom Villa - $60 per day requested
•Full Cleaning Service for 3-Bedroom Grand Villa - $75 per day requested

WOW I would have thought being part of DVC would give you more options than cash guest (which we have been up until now).
