room request tip suggestions?

Hello again. Well we made the leap and rented some points and have a non-smoking, studio reservation at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. Everything seems to be going great. Thanks again to many of you for the suggestions.

Question: Can anyone provide some pointers on getting the best room possible? Should we call reservations and make some additional requests ahead of time? If so, what? Should we wait until check-in (4-5pm on Fri 2/25)? Most importantly, what would be the best requests to make?

If you're renting points, you'll need to have the person you rented from call Member services and have your requests added to your ressie for you. That said, put your requests in order of importance i.e. non-smoking,near elevator, whatever. Best thing to do is have your requests put on your ressie and then reiterate them to the CM at check in. Sorry I can't make any suggestions for VWL, have yet to stay there in the villas....but I'm sure someone else will come along and post.

You've already made the most important requests. Make sure those are on the reservation confirmation. The views are not that different at the VWL. We like the lake side better (even though you may not see the lake), but it is all woods view. Our favorite view is of the "QUIET POOL" but there are not that many rooms with that view, so it is hard to get.

Get there early in the morning and make sure the CM checking you in is aware of your requests. If they are important, it is better to wait for your room to be cleaned than to get one right away.

Also, don't sweat the whole "best room" thing too much. The more requests you put on a reservation, the more likely you are to be disappointed. The most important (for most people) would be your preferred smoking and handicapped accessible status. After that, you're very likely to get the luck of the draw anyway. So don't worry, be happy...
