Just wondering.....do you usually get some or all your room requests fulfilled? How about waitlist, your non home resort? Our last trip was second week of October (2021). I know it's the 50th.....my only request for our 1BR was not to be on ground floor and to have a water/lake view. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and we got married at WDW so I wanted to make it as special as possible for my husband. He loves the water. Well, ended up in a room with a view of a roof. It's just that after 20 years of being a DVC Member, we've only gotten a water/lake view once (I always request one). And we've only been able to get one waitlist come through for the BC in 20 years and CM said the only reason why we were able to get it was that it was a 4 day trip at BC and the first week of March (this was about 4 years ago). Just wondering other people's experiences.

Which resorts and what kind of room was reserved (standard view, lake view...or at BCV all the same). And how did you make the request (chat, email, telephone). My only request that consistently comes thru is no ground floor. I have requested high floor and rarely get that. Close to tennis courts and got close to elevator. Even when booking a theme park view and requested a certain location, I’ve gotten the opposite where you have to crane your neck to see the MK. I think a lot depends on time of year and length of stay. I was once told by a GM of a resort the room schedulers start scheduling ten days out. Not sure if that’s the case any more. It has to be a tough job even with whatever program they use....so many checking in and out, some staying one night, some three, some 9 days.
As for waitlists, I’ve rarely used them as I always reserve at my home resorts at the 11 month mark. For last minute whims, I’ll wait list at SSR or OKW or AKV...all larger resorts with more movement IMHO.
Happy Anniversary!

I loved Grease too.
I remember getting the soundtrack (on record) for my birthday like yesterday. I still have it too - my kids will have to get rid of it when I pass on someday - LOL!

The room request was, and is, always at our home resort. The only thing I specify about the room is a water/lake view and no ground floor. I always make request via phone at time of making reservation and usually follow up once or twice. This last time I called about a week out and again request lake/water view. I told CM that it's our wedding anniversary and that we've been in DVC for 20 years and received a water/lake view once. I also follow up in chat. As far as non-home resorts, we've tried many throughout the years. Always told chances are low but never hurts to be put on waitlist. Do not make any special requests for waitlist as to view, floor, etc.) P.S. We went to Aulani and I used extra points for a non-obstructed ocean view. We got to the room and it was a view of the parking lot. Had to turn my head and hang out window and turn right to see ocean. Even the guy handling our bags said it wasn't a non-obstructed ocean view room. I went back to desk and said either give me some of my points back because I used more points for a specific view or change my room. They changed our room.

Where is your home resort? Not all have water views and most that do you need to book that class/view and most have a higher point requirement for those views. If you book 'standard', you will not get a lake/water view, unless you book that view.

I don’t put in requests very often because to be honest, very rarely get them.

When I travel solo, I do the not ground floor and so far that seems to be granted most often.

Unfortunately requests are just that and so no priority is given to owners or for when they get in.

Since You have not said what your home resort is it’s hard to tell if what you request is even possible as that.

Hello. I am new DVC member. Is there anywhere I can read/learn about the waitlist? Is there a way you can see how many people are in the particular waitlist and where your place is if I was to be added to the waitlist? My home resort is Bay Lake Tower and thinking about joining the waitlist for Grand California at 7 months mark. I am sorry if this is something somebody has already explained. I tried to look for the appropriate threads but could not find it.
