Room request questions

What is the best way to handle room requests when there will be 3 rooms that we are hoping can be in close proximity together with 2 of the room having a connecting door and perhaps a certain building? I didn't know if that was too many things and if a person in each one of the room had to make a specify something certain. I know I've read about room requesting in this type of situation but I cannot find the posts. Thank you!

Call WDW. If you haven't done so already, ask them to link the reservations as "travel with" or "travel together". Request two connecting rooms, one adjoining room and the building you want. I would only have one lead guest call to make this request. Once all the rooms are linked and the request is noted, the CM's will see it for all rooms associated with the "travel with".

Prioritize your requests.

Have CRO make a note on each of the 3 room reservations that you are "traveling with" the other 2. Decide whether the connecting rooms or a specific building is more important. If you include a specific building in your request and there are no rooms with connecting doors available, the room assigner has to decide for you and it might not be the choice you would have made.

Finally, accept that these are only requests and you may not get any of them fulfilled. The room assigners try their best to make guests happy, but sometimes the stars just do not align that way.

I think we are "linked". I looked at Touring Plans and the building we would like has connecting rooms. So i have my fingers crossed How many days before arrival should I make my request.

Ah, but there's a difference between having connecting rooms (all resorts except Fort Wilderness do), and having connecting rooms available.

If connecting rooms is more important than all three being close, then request connecting rooms for two of them. The third could be in a different building, far from the other two. When you really want all three close together, put that as your only request. The more requests you add on to your reservation, the less likely you will get the most important one. Remember, too, that connecting rooms are never guaranteed. Hopefully you are not in a situation where you have a larger number of children under the age of 18 and not having a connecting room would require that the parents of the children are split up for the entire trip. I'd stick with "traveling with" on all the reservations and leave it at that.

Instead of requesting a specific building, it's better to make a more general request that includes the feature that building has that you want (i.e. close to transportation, or near the pool, etc.). That way the room assigner has more leeway than if you were to request "rooms adjoining our family", "connecting rooms for reservations X & y" plus "we want the Toy Story building (as an example)". The room assigner looks at this kind of request and says, hmmm...I have 3 rooms near each other in the Dalmatians building, two connecting rooms in Fantasia or I can give them 3 scattered rooms in the Toy Story building. Which do I choose?

As Deb&Bill said, multiple requests muddy the waters and increase the chances that you will not get the one that is the most important to you.
