Room Request Question

I called on Sunday to make a room request for my value room at AKL in a couple of weeks. The cast member told me she can not take room requests, but I needed to make that when I check in. I have never been told that before. I was wondering if this was something new or if she was mistaken? Also, if this is the case, should I avoid checking in on-line? I thought if you checked in on-line a room would be assigned prior to my arrival, leaving no chance for a room request. Part of me just wants to forget it and see what I get. I am OK with savannah or pool view, just didn't want a parking lot view and from what I understand there are not as many of those rooms as there are the others when staying in a value room. Thanks in advance for any information you may have to provide!

I would call back or send an e-mail.

I have requests on our current reservation. Top floor quiet location... I would try again.

Has anyone ever had a CM tell them they can not make a request over the phone?

IIRC, they are no longer noting requests for views in the AKV-value category. I believe that most requests were for savanna-view and they were having some issues with people complaining that there requests weren't met. (Even though everyone knows it is just a request and not a guarantee) So, to simplify things, they just eliminated all requests from that category. Now, if you called and requested the parking lot view, they might just add it for you:lmao:.

At Jambo House (where all the Value villas are located) they are all on the fifth floor. So there really isn't much of a request to make.

Thank you for clarifying! That makes sense. I know there is no guarantee, but I have always made requests before so I was a little confused. I really don't care if it is pool or savannah, but like everyone else was hoping to not get parking lot. Now I am wondering if I should check in on-line or wait until we get there and see if I can make a request when I check-in? We are staying for 10 days, so it would be nice to have a good view. I normally stay savannah or standard at Jambo, but this time we are taking family and we used our points. I had to book value to have enough!

this is correct.

BTW, i did get stuck with a parking lot view when i stayed there last week...so it does happen... but it's still a great resort.

Thanks for this timely information. I have a renter that just requested a 2-Bedroom Value with Savannah View. Now we can retreat and reload before the MS call.
